ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS -125 - The Pirates took the series opener last night, but that still leaves them at just 3-11 in their last 14 games, and I think it will be difficult for them to win back-to-back road games in their current form. Their starter Torres has a good 3.63 ERA on the year, but he appears better suited for the relief role, as his ERA jumps up to 4.79 in his 4 starting assignments. His longest outing this season is 5 1/3 innings, which is bad news considering Pittsburgh used 5 relief pitchers in last night?s 12-inning affair, meaning that if Torres gets hit hard early, he may end up taking one for the team. Of course, the reason that this line is relatively cheap is that Chris Capuano will be making his first Major League start for the Diamondbacks. Capuano is a home grown product that was drafted by Arizona and has ascended rather quickly through the ranks. He was impressive in his first year in AAA, going 4-1 with a 2.72 ERA, recording 29 strikeouts against 11 walks in 36.1 innings at the time of his recall. The young southpaw is facing a Pirates lineup that struggles vs. left-handers, so he just might carry his AAA form into this start.
