NEW YORK METS ?130 - Yes, I realize that these are the Mets, and that they have now lost 8 in a row. However, Leiter has pitched some of the best ball in the National League in the second half of the season, and he is now a very respectable 13-9 while pitching for a dreadful ball club. He has done his best pitching here at home, where he has a 3.89 ERA and the Mets as a team have managed to go 10-2 in all his home starts. Leiter has also been brilliant in his last 4 outings vs. Pittsburgh, all of them victories, allowing only 4 earned runs on 22 hits in 29.2 innings of work. Granted, Wells is also pitching well and is among the NL leaders in ERA with his 3.38. However, he has not been nearly as effective on the road, where he is just 4-5 with a 4.45 ERA.
