FROM THE NET:

Late Wednesday night, goalie Johan Hedberg sat at the end of a couch in the Penguins' locker room, transfixed. Never blinking his eyes. Never reacting to the bodies moving around him.
Looking from at let-down from pitts
Audette will be back for the hab wich should give them a boost.
Todays?s game at Montreal is the first of a home-and-home series. And it might be the last truly important game of the season. If the Penguins lose, only the mathematical details ? the paper work ? would be needed to formally eliminate them from the playoffs for the first time since 1990.
Many factors have put the Penguins in this position. Injuries top the list, followed by bad starts, bad finishes and bad in-betweens. The most recent factor was the blown third-period lead Wednesday against New Jersey.
The hurt still was evident in the dressing room Thursday, about 15 hours after the Penguins gave up three unanswered goals in a crushing, 4-3 loss. It was the first time all season that they lost a game they led after two periods. They had been 20-0-4.

"...Quo fas et gloria ducunt..."
what the hell is goin on with these teams giving up goals in BUNCHES this week....???

- RANGERS in the third period to blow the win.

- T.B was losing 3-2 to the LEAFS, and then 4 quick goals buried them...!!! (i lost the +1.5 TB pick in that one.)

- LEAFS giving up those three goals in the third....????
(i lost the leafs ML in that one.)

another overall bad week for me.

let's get this turned around...!!!

Thanks for posting this info Frogy, I always appreciate your write ups. I agree that Audette should be able to give them a lift, and Pitt may have packed it in for this season after their terrible collapse against the Devils the other night. Should be interesting to see if the Pens can rebound and play some decent hockey the rest of the season. GL.

Three of the Penguins' top five scorers from a year ago -- Lang, Martin Straka and Mario Lemieux -- are out for the rest of the season with injuries. The team also traded 2001 NHL scoring champion Jaromir Jagr.

Defenseman Josef Melichar, whose physical presence around the net has been sorely missed since he dislocated a shoulder Feb. 12,

Kent Manderville, an effective penalty-killer and defensive forward since being acquired from Philadelphia on March 17, injured an ankle against his former teammates six days later and is day-to-day.

"We could go 9-0 and still not make it," Pittsburgh defensemen Andrew Ference said. "But we know that to have any chance whatsoever, to even give ourselves a shot, we might be able to lose one game out of the next nine. Everybody knows that."
