The Los Angeles Kings acquired Yushkevich from the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. The Panthers received center Jaroslav Bednar and defenseman Andreas Lilja in the deal, while the Kings also got a fifth-round pick in the 2003 draft. "We are happy to acquire Dmitry, who we feel is a top quality defenseman that will bring us additional experience and leadership to our defensive corps," Kings general manager Dave Taylor said. "We appreciate the effort given to us by Andreas and Jaro and we wish them luck."
