- My own eyes against Texas A&M, and stats on turnovers, rushing defense and rushing offense, keep hammering me with the ordinary nature and character of this Clemson team. In keeping with the Bowden tradition at Clemson, multiple opportunities to step up play out as steps backwards . . . UVA under Groh is awfully tough at home, and off a roll they are called on tonight to step up for the first time this season. My read is Virginia on matchups, intangibles, situation and value.

- An emerging team of athletes and playmakers, if that's what they are, will not be challenged here . . . I believe ISU is 1-11 ATS after allowing more than 35 points.

- Upset brewing???

Oklahoma(-7)(-108) over Texas (1*)
- Playing to win in big games, and knowing what that means, earns my money again. The Sooners are asked to step up for the first time since the humbling close of last season, and I'm far from convinced that gash, gash, break will be Longhorn MO without wideout threats and a QB that rarely displays accuracy and touch.

Arizona(+10') over UCLA (1*)
- A live nuisance.

Since Nebraska played Pitt, I had the Texas Tech game circled as a rout, and nothing changed since that time. After a busy week at work, I got sidetracked in my rush to cap in the final 12 hours, and I dropped the TT play from my card because I never made the time to give it the final review I almost always give to one of my plays. Now the circle around that play is just staring me in the face, and it hurts my psyche about ten times twice as much as having the wrong side with Maryland. Ahhhh, capping.
