Scenarios

[if I have butchered this or have a mistake please let me know...just trying to answer all the potential scenarios and times.]

NFC

CLINCHED: New York Giants, NFC East, first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs; Arizona, NFC West; Carolina, playoff berth; Atlanta, playoff berth.

ELIMINATED: Detroit, St. Louis, San Francisco, Seattle, Green Bay, New Orleans, Washington

Carolina Panthers[1:00 PM]
The Panthers clinch the NFC South title and a first-round bye with a win or Atlanta loss.

Atlanta Falcons[1:00 PM]
The Falcons clinch the NFC South title and a first-round bye with a win and a Carolina loss.

Minnesota Vikings[1:00 PM]
The Vikings clinch the NFC North title with a win or a Chicago loss.

Chicago Bears[1:00 PM]
The Bears clinch the NFC North with a win and a Minnesota loss. The Bears clinch a playoff spot with a win and a Dallas loss and a Tampa Bay loss.

Dallas Cowboys
[4:15PM]The Cowboys clinch a wild-card spot with a win over Philadelphia.

****If Tampa Bay wins their early game at home against woeful Oakland next week, then the Eagles will head into their contest knowing that they are officially out of the playoff picture.

Philadelphia Eagles[4:15PM]
The Eagles clinch a wild-card spot with a win over Dallas and losses by Tampa Bay and Chicago[Chicago won] OR an Eagles win and Tampa Bay loss and Minnesota loss..

Chicago's win over Green Bay, gave the Bears the opportunity to knock Philly out of the playoff race with a victory this weekend at Houston provided that desperate Minnesota is able to secure a home triumph against a New York Giants squad that has already wrapped up the best record in the conference.

*** if I get this..highly questionable:mj07: there is a potential setup that Dallas clinches without a victory vs Philly ****
please correct me if I am wrong.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers[1:00 PM]
The Bucs clinch a wild-card spot with a win over Oakland and a loss or tie by Dallas OR a tie with Oakland and a loss by Dallas and a loss or tie by Minnesota OR a tie with Oakland and a loss by Dallas and a loss or tie by Chicago.

best to get the edge on these week 17 matchups from the local rag sheets if we can..

here is

GREEN BAY

you believe what McCarthy said Tuesday, his team won?t spend one minute worrying about the possibility of being the only team the winless Detroit Lions beat this season.

The Lions come to Lambeau Field for Sunday?s regular-season finale with an 0-15 record. No team has gone winless in the NFL since it expanded to a 16-game in 1978.

?We?re going to treat the Lions no different than any other opponent we?re playing,? McCarthy said. ?You talk about where the football team is. You talk about what you feel their strengths are and their weaknesses, and how we?re going to attack them.

"I?m sure there will be a lot of outside media attention around the situation, but we?re not going to spend any time on that. We have no control of that. We have no input on that. We have no opinion on it. This is a division opponent. Division games are always tough.?

Injury report
Starting receivers Donald Driver and Greg Jennings likely will begin the week on the injury report.

Driver sustained a knee contusion in the first half against the Bears but returned to the game. McCarthy said Driver was questionable for practice today.

Jennings had what McCarthy called ?a slight concussion,? but it was unclear when it happened. He?s unlikely to practice today, but McCarthy expects him to be available against the Lions.

Tackle Breno Giacomini (ankle) has been ruled out. Special teams players Joe Porter (concussion) and Spencer Havner (ankle) probably will miss some practice time this week. Safety Aaron Rouse (ankle) is expected to practice.

Running back Brandon Jackson, who missed Monday?s game due to a sprained wrist, might not be available this week, either. Fullback Korey Hall (knee) and defensive tackle Justin Harrell (hip, back) both have improved and could return this week.

Odds and endsDetroit is the first 0-15 NFL team. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went 0-14 in 1976, when the NFL played a 14-game regular-season schedule. ? The Lions benched quarterback Dan Orlovsky in the fourth quarter of Sunday?s game after he completed just 10 of 23 passes for 125 yards and two interceptions. Drew Stanton replaced him and was just 1-of-3 for 12 yards, but Marinelli said Orlovsky would start against the Packers. ? The Lions rank 30th out of 32 teams in total offense (including 30th in rushing and 26th in passing) and last in total defense (including last against the run and 26th against the pass).

The Packers have won the last six meetings, and the Lions haven?t won in Wisconsin since 1991.

last year end of the season visit 34-13 Pack and GB had already clinched a playoff spot.
