I love USC -3 (+100) in the first half. A 7-week layoff between games should make for a sluggish start for Iowa. USC will try to jump on this fact if they are smart

Your book is doing exactly what Carib does by leaving the first half lines alone and simply adding juice to one side depending on how the overall line moves.

Carib has the first half line at Iowa +3.5 but laying 140 juice.

I still like it and will certainly play it.

Let me remind all of you about something regarding Iowa and the first half. I'm not sure if the streak is still alive or not, but the Hawkeyes love to start with the ball at the beginning of the game and they almost always get the ball first because if they win the coin toss, they elect to get the ball, if the other team wins the toss, they usually defer to the 2nd half.

Also, Iowa has quite a little history of scoring on their opening drive. Might be something to consider for the first quarter as well

nickel, are you worried at all about the lay off? They didn't set the world on fire till about their forth game in. Beat Akron 1st game really well but who are they? Beat Miami OH by 5 then lost to Iowa St. in third game. Had a big lead though. Just curious, Thanks:)

kebbyc,

A very good point given that Iowa has been off for a month and a half while USC has been off for a month. But it has given time for players like Fred Russell to get healthy and ready for this game. Its really hard to know what kind of an effect the layoff will have. . . its important to keep in mind that USC has had a month off as well. . . not as significant, but its not like USC has been playing right along and Iowa is coming off a long rest.

What I do know is that Iowa during the season had a history of fast starts and then would sometimes struggle down the stretch. For Iowa to cover the game spread, they MUST come out of the gates on fire against this USC team. USC will get their points in this game. . . no question about it. . . but how much will they gamble in the early going? I wouldn't expect them to go all or nothing so early on.

On the course!
Being that Iowa thinks their QB should have won the Heisman, I think they will be ready to play. This should be a great game.

(Better than tomorrow's!)

Just an opinion but I don't see either team being able to run the ball that well today. Palmer does not strike me as mobile especially compared to Banks. When a team cannot establish the run (can u say Washington State??) the other team starts to tee off on the QB (can u say Oklahoma??) Iowa has the superior kicking game today and the mobile QB. I know they say Iowa pass defense is suspect but if you do not give the QB all day to throw, then the Three Stooges and I can play back there and get the job done. I think the game will go under the total and the 6 points is the way to go.

With Iowa's pass defense ranked at 109 in the NCAA, USC's timing might be able to afford being a little off. With Iowa's 5ft 10 inch dbacks, USC's 6ft 5 inch Williams may not need perfect timing. Very difficult game to predict - hope it is as good as we all think it will be.
