Hello everyone,

I appreciate that last night was an extremely bad beat for many people here. I sympathize with anyone who got burned by the Bucs collapse. And for those of you (like me) who were on Indy, don't ever say again that you never get one of these wacked games to go your way, because you definitely got one last night. Remember this game the next time you take a bad beat, because it all evens out. I have lost many games I should not have lost, but I have also won many games that I shouldn't have won. We always seem to forget the good ones.

Anyways, I am not going to go into the specifics of the game in this thread. There are many threads out there to rehash every controversial play. What I do want to talk about here is all the people who are saying they are giving up.

Now I realize, around week 5 this is the norm. A lot of people bail about this time every year when they chase and go down in flames. Lots of people out there never learned proper money management. If this is you, then don't blame anyone...not the officials, or the lousy cornerback, or the stupid coach...no one but yourself is to blame if you can't manage your funds. I don't care how crappy the outcome was and if you think the "fix" was on. If you are betting everything you have on it, YOU are at fault. In particular I could really see it happening this year. We had 3 weeks of favorites covering like they very rarely do. People who don't normally win at football betting were cleaning up, and probably getting over-confident. Then you get a couple weeks like this where the dogs bark and it's all gone. This game always turns, always changes.

Anyways, if last night's game took you out of the running for the season, I am sorry. But use this opportunity to learn money management before you get back into it again, because this will always be the result if you have no plan. When you play this handicapping game long enough you learn to expect the unexpected. You lose when you shouldn't. A lot of BS happens. You've got to be responsible to get through it to the good times. You should NEVER be in a position where losing one game (or a weekend of games) will put you in a position where you can't pay your bills, feed your family, etc.

This may sound overly harsh, like I am kicking sand in the face of the people who are already down. But it's the truth. Money management is more important than any handicapping you will ever do. And if you can't handle a bad beat, or a bad call, then this really isn't the hobby for you.

I am sure I'll catch hell for this, but so be it.

Cheers.

I am a firm believer in having a program that automatically dictates your bet size. There is enough to worry about without thinking how much on this one and that one. Spend your time handicapping situations, stats, injuries, etc. add in line shopping, it is imperative to get the best line to turn a net at seasons end.

How can any play be worth 4, 5, 6, or 10 times your average or smallest play. I don't see it, the greater the probability of winning the more value a play has but to triple or play 5 to 10 times on one play is a invitation to disaster.

Also important to think in respect of risk amount instead of win amounts. Key to long term is total amount at risk in any given session. Playing 5 - 10 % of your BR on 4-5-6-7 plays is a killer if you go 0 fer. It can happen, there is simply a 2-4 % chance of losing all of your plays in one session on any given day !

You are reading what GM and I and the others say, but are you comprehending ? Only you can answer this question.

I close with some appropriate words from a song written by one of my favorite groups:

" Ride, ride my see-saw,
Take this place
On this trip
Just for me.

Ride, take a free ride,
Take my place
Have my seat
It's for free.

I worked like a slave for years,
Sweat so hard just to end my fears.
Not to end my life a poor man,
But by now, I know I should have run.

School taught one and one is two.
But right now, that answer just ain't true.

My world is spinning around,
Everything is lost that I found.

Moody Blues " Ride my Seesaw"

G/L to all.

I really love reading your threads GM and Geno. I know you guys are probably almost as old as I am and have been doing this crap for a long time and have figured out what it's all about. I really get tired of all these GOY's stuff and then "I quit this " the next post. If you haven't learned that anything can happen in sports gambling and accept the good with the bad, don't do it. Been doing this for 35 years and still get pissed on a bad beat but have NEVER been put out of action by 1 game. Think about what you're doing fellas. Always enjoy reading your posts guys.
