It’s the third jewel of the Triple Crown today. Just as last year, they’ll be running 1 1/4 miles at Saratoga as the Belmont track is under renovation. The three horses that ran in the Kentucky Derby are considered to be the class of the race (Sovereignty, Journalism, Baeza). But, not so fast, since it will be a sloppy track which favors speed, Rodriguez may have a chance.
Betting $40 again. Journalism is the best horse in the race but running 3 races in 5 weeks may take its toll. Sovereignty did not run in the Preakness and will be fresh. As he is a closer, having only 8 horses in the race is a plus. Baez didn’t run in the Preakness either. He came in 3rd at the Kentucky Derby from the 19th hole which is very impressive. Rodriguez was scratched from both the Derby and Preakness with a bad foot. He’ll take the lead alongside Crudo but will those two burn each other out?
Here we go: $5 win tickets on Journalism, Baez and Sovereignty. That’s $15. $10 exacta box on Baez/Sovereignty That’s $20 more. Last $5 on a Baez/Journalism exacta. To recap:
