can these idiots ever get on the right side of an issue?....
do they have memory problems?....
3000+ people died 4 years ago in the heart of our country....incinerated...smashed to death jumping from the tops of buildings...
yes,i am aware of the NEW YORK TIMES article that just came out regarding nsa monitoring international phone calls right after 9/11 without warrants...
hard times call for hard decisions... particularly, right after 9/11...
still..the question remains,"where are all the abuses resultant of the act?"....and if there are....they should be addressed.....
somebody please weigh in and give a personal example of how their rights have been infringed upon....maybe it`s happened..i`d be interested in hearing about it...
in the nyt`s article, there are examples of actual plots that have been thwarted as a result of the surveilance....
actually,i thought the article was less of a hatchet job than i expected...congrats to the times...
""the eavesdropping program had helped uncover a plot by Iyman Faris, an Ohio trucker and naturalized citizen who pleaded guilty in 2003 to supporting Al Qaeda by planning to bring down the Brooklyn Bridge with blowtorches. What appeared to be another Qaeda plot, involving fertilizer bomb attacks on British pubs and train stations, was exposed last year in part through the program, the officials said.""
we`re basically talking about international calls...
"Warrants are still required for eavesdropping on entirely domestic-to-domestic communications, those officials say, meaning that calls from that New Yorker to someone in California could not be monitored without first going to the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court.""
get the whole fricking law passed...tweek it do what you have to do...just get it done....
and please don`t make it a political football...it`s way to important...that goes for republicans and democrats...
it`s a necessity....given the state of our decimated intelligence community(remember,liberals...there were no wmd`s...we need all the help we can get...)
we are at war...we need these tools...
we can`t afford to have dangerously short memories in matters potentially involving national security.....life and death...
