Went 1-2 yesterday,
Stupid pick on the Raptors, and Phily owns Miami
Posted YTD: 47-46-2, -16.2

SIXERS -3.5 (10*) -- This is a classic anti-contrarion play. Sixers have owned Miami this year. Philly's D has held Miami to point totals of 76, 72, and 79. The contrarion would say that Miami is due and that it's hard to sweep a team. Bull-shite! These are two very similar teams. Both started off the year terribly, but have both turned it around since mid-season. If Miami was playing anybody else in this spot, I would probably be all over them. Not against the Sixers though. Old demons came to life last night, as the dreaded Heat scoring drought occured in the third quarter last night (only 15 points versus 25 for the Sixers). I think Philly has the psychological edge on Miami. I am putting on my best polyester suit and playing the Sixers.

BLAZERS -1.5 (10*) -- The Blazers are the better team (line-up wise). The Blazers are playing better basketball than the Nets. Blazers just know how to win on the road (their only slip-up against the Nuggets). Blazers have owned the East since their re-emergence as a legit contender. Contenders beat the Pretenders by five.

In my opinion, the polyester pick would be to take Philadelphia. The obvious would say Philly just beat them away, now they should beat them at home by more than they did away.
Also, a couple of consensus sites have the early lean toward Philly as well.

Exactly, the polyester pick is to take Philly. That's why I called it a polyester pick, because it's the obvious play... "How could Philly lose to Miami, when they beat them at home last night?" This is also why I called it a anti-contrarion play. I think one of the biggest mistakes good handicappers make sometimes is they over think an easy play. I'm kinda new at cappin' NBA, some I'm gonna take my lumps, but when a gift horse stares you in the mouth, don't slap her, take her to the bank.

Anti-contrarian play. I like that. Trouble is -- I don't think there are enough of us contrarians to offset the square money. But if there is, I guess that makes me an "anti-anti-contrarian." :)

FWIW, I totally agree Phila. is the pick. The guy in the sportsbook drinking Old Milwaukee told me to load up -- that he was releasing the Sixers on his 1-800 service as his 100,000 star lock of the decade.

Hilldog,
Were you driving your 1969 VW Beetle when you made those polyester picks?

Maybe it's time to get that suit drycleaned. . . .

And Nolan, if you read this, where have you been?
sent you a couple of e-mails and no response. . . .
