Call to investigate leaked call between Rudd and BushFont Size: Decrease Increase Print Page: Print November 02, 2008

PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd should launch an investigation into the leaking of details of a sensitive phone call he had with US President George W Bush, former foreign minister Alexander Downer says.

Details of the call to discuss the global financial crisis were reported last week in The Weekend Australian.

During the call, Mr Bush reportedly responded to Mr Rudd's suggestion of a G20 summit to deal with the crisis by saying: "What's the G20?''.

Is Bush still sane at this point ?

is he back on the bottle ?

The G20 (Group of 20) is a group representing 19 of the world's largest economies plus the European Union that are strategically important and influential in the world economy. The G20 was formed as a new forum for cooperation and consultation on matters pertaining to the international financial system. It studies, reviews, and promotes discussion among key industrial and emerging market countries of policy issues pertaining to the promotion of international financial stability, and seeks to address issues that go beyond the responsibilities of any one organization.

In 2008, the host country Brazil has proposed dialogue on competition in financial markets, clean energy and economic development and fiscal elements of growth and development. In a statement following a meeting of G7 finance ministers on October 11, 2008, US President George W. Bush stated that the next meeting of the G20 would be important in finding solutions to the economic crisis of 2008.

Nobody knows. He's been missing for a month or two. And there has been no verified sighting of Cheney for about a year. Great administration, but we already knew that.
..............................................................

true kosar.

George W has been on vacation

I wonder if the neocons around here realize that George W has taken more vacation days than any other president in the history of mankind.

Holy shitballs

We need change. We need someone that will roll up their sleeves and work on Americans problems.

Not someone that needs his naps every afternoon.

Dear Vince:

While the president of the United States is never completely on vacation, most commanders-in-chief manage to enjoy a respite from the daily grind during their stay the White House. George W. Bush seems to have taken this to the extreme early in his tenure as president. A humorous, fake resume for Bush suggests that he set the record for most days on vacation by any president in U.S. history .
According to an August 2003 article in the Washington Post, President Bush has spent all or part of 166 days during his presidency at his Crawford, Texas, ranch or en route. Add the time spent at or en route to the presidential retreat of Camp David and at the Bush family estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, and Bush has taken 250 days off as of August 2003. That's 27% of his presidency spent on vacation. Although to be fair, much of this time is classified as a "working vacation."

Bush isn't the first president to get away from his work. George Bush Sr. took all or part of 543 vacation days at Camp David and in Kennebunkport. Ronald Reagan spent 335 days at or en route to his Santa Barbara, California, ranch during his eight years in office.

Of recent presidents, Jimmy Carter took the least days off -- only 79 days, which he usually spent at his home in Georgia. That's less than three weeks a year, which is closer to the average American's paid time off of 13 days per year. :SIB

And in barely three years in office, George W. Bush has already taken more vacation than Clinton did in seven years.

................................................................

the shit is amazing.

money and power and dont give two shits attitude.

McSame would probably surpass Bush's vacation time easily

Remember, the president also told Nebraska resident Mary Mornin, in her late 50s, and raising three kids -- one mentally challenged -- this:

MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.

THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?

MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.

THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)
................................................................

how could anyone in their right mind , say this to this woman working 3 jobs

son of a beech

And DTB, weaz, freeze , hedge, and the neocons still love this guy as a great President .

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A new national poll suggests Sarah Palin may be hurting Republican presidential nominee John McCain more than she's helping him.

Fifty-seven percent of likely voters say Sarah Palin does not have the personal qualities a president should have.

1 of 3 A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Sunday indicates McCain's running mate is growing less popular among voters and may be costing him a few crucial percentage points in the race for the White House.

Fifty-seven percent of likely voters questioned in the poll said Palin does not have the personal qualities a president should have. That's up 8 points since September.

Fifty-three percent say she does not agree with them on important issues. That's also higher than September.

"Just after the GOP convention in early September, 53 percent said they would vote for Palin over Joe Biden if there were a separate vote for vice president. Now, Biden would beat Palin by 12 points if the running mates were chosen in a separate vote," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

And what if voters were allowed to vote for president separately?

"It would be a 4-point edge for Barack Obama, 52 percent to 48 percent. Since the McCain-Palin ticket is currently getting 46 percent in a match-up against the Obama-Biden ticket, it looks like Palin's presence on the GOP ballot is taking 2 percentage points away from McCain. In a close race, that might represent the margin of victory," Holland said.

The unfavorable numbers for Palin, Alaska's governor, also have been growing. They are 8 points higher in the current poll than in early October, and they're twice as high as they were when McCain announced his running mate in late August.
........................................................

My brother in law lives in Germany but is a American citizen.

I was talking to him and he said he had sent in his absetee ballot and voted for Obama

He says everything that happens in America affects Europe in one way or another.

He said Palin being VP is not acceptable.

Cest la vie

Palin / McCain :sadwave:

The problem with Palin being punk'd worries me. Not so much about her. I don't think shje is as dumb as she is being told to play. But her staff. What kind of fools is she surrounded by? How stupid are her handlers. They are the ones who fell ofor this call. They cleared it and gave it to her. Are these the type of people we want to be so close to the President?
