Prefer a road dog...preferably an 'ugly' one...just don't think the home field advantage is always what it used to be 20-40yrs ago in a lot of cases...before instant replay, etc...:SIB

Not really an angle but more a gut thought for week one. Over the years the "tune up games" for bigger schools have become tougher and tougher. I look at App st as proof these DII and IAA teams have players and can compete. I am not saying upset but looking at week one you will more than likely have some heavy favs with a ton of chalk in semi tight ball games. The spurrir type games where teams were getting hammered by 60 are few and far between now. I will not be sure until the season is closer but watch for the lesser known team with something to prove against a home big name with players a bit over hyped in week one.
Just my 2 cents...
Cheers

In early matchups I like looking for qb's that are starting there first game with an inexperienced o-line who are favored. I have not tracked this over the years but I know that more often than not it has been suscessful. In the first week I am looking at La. Laf + 14 against So. Miss. Granted Laf is no world beater, but I believe +14 has some very good value. S. Miss is starting a new QB, with a new coach, a new offensive scheme and limited talent on the o-line. Laf does have some skilled players that I think can keep this real close.
Good Luck, Blaster

:mj03: Got me thinking Blaster. Steele says they should be one of the most improved teams this year. Lafayette is just 60 miles from here, maybe I can check them out one day.

Crunch, Let me know what you find. I am real interested to see what you come up with. Feel here that if run defense of the cajuns has improved over last year, they could possibly have a shot of getting this outright. Call me crazy, but my gut tells me we may have 2 teams going in opposit directions, at least early. :0corn

feel like you...defense could be a concern...but with an experienced QB and tailback they should be able to score. Don't really have a 'feel' for ULL as I didn't grow up down here...but maybe some of the other guys from this area could chime in and help.
