Manager Tony Pena was asked why he planned to pitch rookie Miguel Ascencio in today's second game, letting him think about it for a few hours, instead of starting him in the first game of the doubleheader.
"That's a good question," Pena said. "I may have to change my mind."
Sure enough, after his session with reporters was over, Pena quickly consulted with pitching coach Al Nipper. Within minutes, the change was made -- Asencio would start the first game and veteran Darrell May would go in the second.
