I have a few friends who work on the railroad and one of them posted this today. I always wondered how they did it.

When I worked on the railroad, our Maintenance Of Way Department did all of that by hand.
Creosote railroad ties, baseplates and hand driven railroad spikes. Then shovel the ballast between the ties.
It was, hands down, the worst job in any department on the railroad.
Railroads have some colossal equipment, but I've never seen anything like that.
That was amazing!

We had one of these Kress Carriers at our plant. Late at night, I guy we worked with drove through the opening because he thought it was a tunnel. LOL!
