Maybe there's some fine print at their site--will check later--but I'm curious how they calculate these percentages.

Take one example, the Falcons at 76% of tickets. I suspect this includes any tickets that have the Falcons at -7 instead of their "best odds" number of -7.5. More importantly, I would be interested if this percentage includes any tickets containing the Falcons on a teaser.

===

Follow-up to that question of what counts as a ticket--straight bets only or counting teaser legs as well. They have a separate category for moneyline plays so they obviously include those in tickets, and I see nothing contradicting my belief that tickets included would include, say, 2-team parlays with the side in question being one of the two. Nothing about teaser tickets being including or excluded, but they state:

What is NFL Public Betting?

NFL public betting shows the percentage of bets placed on each side of a wager, usually tracked across major sportsbooks.

Key metrics to know:

  • Percentage (%) of Bets – The share of total tickets placed on a particular side. Example: If we track 20,000 bets on the Steelers-Bills game and 13,000 are on the Buffalo Bills, that’s 65% of bets on Buffalo.

===

Now I'm curious what the overall NFL handle is on teasers compared to straights, as this split--for number of tickets--could sway their calculations massively.

Drop word if you think that these percentages DO NOT include any teaser tickets, as I would presently suggest that they probably do.

If nothing else, the difference between the ticket percentage and the money percentage would seem to be instructive. They discuss this concept at their site, linked above.
