Wife and I got back late last night. An absolutely fantastic trip! Thanks to MadJackSports and Bookmaker for making this happen!

Cutting to the chase, Nick and I both busted just before the end of Day One. I went out with TT v AK when the King hit the river. I had some pretty decent hands over the 6+ hours I played, but couldn't do much with them. Guy to my right knocked 3 people out relatively early and was playing very aggressively, so I stayed out of his way for most of the time I played, unless I had something worth raising him with.

It was a pretty interesting experience. I was one of the few who's first language was english. I had a European woman next to me, a couple Swedes, and some hispanics all speaking their native languages. It was different. Doyle Brunson, Todd Brunson, and Mike Caro were the pros I recognized. Doyle went out very early, not sure how deep the other two made it.

1st place paid 64k, 2nd paid 38k. Overall, top 18 places paid and there were just over 200 people that competed.

Nick has some pics on his camera that he will hopefully post later in this thread. Golfed the Cana Bay course on Saturday, that was a lot of fun and a nice change of pace from the routine we had gotten into.

They are still working on getting the resort ready for the Grand Opening in February, so there is a lot of construction going on. The rooms are nicer than any other all inclusive I've ever been in and the food is as good as any (save the breakfast buffet).

As with any of these Caribbean resorts, the service is tough to get used to, but this was on par with the Sandals resorts we've been to. No better, no worse.

I liked the layout (even though it is a long walk from most rooms to the sea. The golf course was a short golf cart ride away from the front lobby and the 50% off greens fees kept the rate very affordable ($75).

The casino is a nice twist to the all inclusive thing. The dealers are clueless and the sportsbook employees are completely lost.

I would definitely go back.

I was in Punta Cana for a week last month. We stayed at the Excellence Resort which was one of the farthest resorts from the airport. Drove by the Hard Rock on the way. American Airlines did lose our bags when we got to the airport in DR and we didn't get them until 24 hours later. This was the only negative of this trip. I had huge reservations about the food, language, among other things, but I would recommend this trip to anyone. We took an excursion across the island and snorkeled at a coral reef and some swimming with sting rays. I am a huge fan of the Dominican beer-Presidente and also Coke light which they make with their cane sugar. Casino in the hotel was small and you do have to watch the dealers all the time as some of them tried to take the chips on a push in BJ.
