My buddy just got a viewsat on Saturday. How long have you had yours and how much of a pain in the ass is it to keep it up and running?

I am considering one myself.

Thanks in advance.

its great...nothing like the old h/hu cards...stays up for long periods. It was a long summer...however, since then, it has been maintenance free.

I believe Ive had my Viewsat for about a year now. I started out with Pansat but a program was released that had a clone kill in it. Even though mine was original it killed my box (Pansat) The Pansat worked for about a year. I then switch to Viewsat and havent looked back.

The only major problem that happened was when all the boxes got knocked off for about a couple of months. Viewsat was the first to put out a program to bring everything back up. It took a few more weeks for others to follow suit.

No pain at all to keep them updated. The last few months the program Ive been using has had autoroll. Thats where when the signal get scrambled (keys change) the box rolls the numbers by itself till it finds the right ones. Most of the time you dont even know it happened because its so fast. A couple of times it took up to 15 seconds. Not a big deal at all.

This time something got sent down and the autoroll didnt work at all. So I just found the right numbers on a different site and put them in myself. Takes about 30 seconds to do. I figure that within a couple of days a program will be released to take care of this problem.

Whatever you do..DO NOT sign up at pay sites to get the programs. It would be a waste of money. There are plenty of places to get it for free.

If you run into a problem while hooking it up or you need the programs get my e-mail from Jack and I will help you out.

I am in the final stages of finishing a house. Hopefully will be in by the first of the year.

Will probably be moving forward with it at that time. I will definately follow up with you.

Have two Pansat sets that are apparently back up and running. Was very easy to keep up once you figured out where to look. They were down for much of the summer and have since went to Direct tv. Got sick of it to be honest with you.
