When is the last time both Underdogs covered ATS in the Final 4? I have a strong feeling it's 1998 when Utah upset a solid North Carolina club and Stanford lost by 1 point to eventual National Champion Kentucky. I was doing some research, but didn't have point spreads from this game and don't know if there is a Final 4 archive with regards to ATS. I would be very interested as it seems like chalk does very well in the Final 4 and probably decent in National Championship games over the years. I believe in National Title games going off recent memory...

2011 UConn covered as chalk 2010 Bulter covered as Underdog 2009 UNC covered as chalk 2008 KU covered as closing line Underdog, but opened as favorite 2007 Florida covered as chalk 2006 Florida covered as small chalk 2005 UNC covered as chalk 2004 UConn covered as chalk 2003 Syracuse covered as Underdog 2002 Maryland covered as chalk 2001 Duke covered as chalk 2000 Michigan State covered as chalk 1999 UConn covered as Underdog 1998 Kentucky covered as chalk

So past 14 years, chalk has gone 10-4 ATS as closing line chalk and 11-3 SU with only Butler covering and losing. Please correct if I'm wrong.

1997 - Pretty sure Arizona covered as Dog (believe everyone was a 1 seed except them) and 1996 - Syracuse covered as 13 point dog against Kentucky. Sick of going back any further as UCLA's 1995 title and Arkansas 1994 title are hard to even remember seeds, etc. Damn, I could probably go back to 70's remembering the champ every year.

Thanks, IE!

i think it's interesting that only 1 time in those 20 games did a dog cover without winning. i guess if you like louisville or kansas today, the ML is the way to go.

Well guess the dogs without covering are due since L'ville covered without winning. Anyone else find the ending strange for L'ville. They were down 8 with about 25 seconds left and wasted about 15 seconds of the clock before shooting and then didn't foul. Felt like the Cards were playing for their fans at the end and making sure they covered if they lost... just my $.02

Hell yes I and everybody else who has ever bet a game found that weird. Anybody who has ever bet a dog has only wished every game ended like that, I still don't know what to think of what I witnessed. Would have been real nice if that prick for the Pacers would have done the same with 13 seconds to go in that one. I know your were pretty happy as well being on Pitino's squad today and you +9, right?? Haha. Pretty sure I will tail you on your Jayhawks, they proving to be pretty resilient of late despite their slow starts and turnovers, still not sure how they won today either, but happy they did.

Yes, the ending to the L'ville vs. Kentucky game was very weird for anyone on Kentucky. You could just tell the kids knew the line and wanted to cover for Louisville. I mean it was so obvious! I have rarely ever seen a game like tonight. Glad I was on the right side. Louisville wanted to cover and pissed away the clock on purpose so if they missed, they could not foul and cover. Some guy next to me bet 2 dimes on Kentucky -8.5 and was so pissed after the ending (he did win a dime on UK 1st half). However, these kids don't know the spread LMAO~!
