I was in my car before the PItt/Cleve game was going to start and I heard an interview with Hines Ward, a great pass receiver, but hardly a master of the English language.

"Cleveland played us tough both games. We have our hands cut out for us".

I was with some friends this weekend and we were laughing about some of the funniest quotes we have heard spew from the lips of atheletes. One of my favorite remains an Andre "The Hawk" Dawson comment in the mid 90's when he was with the Chicago Cubs. Dawson was asked what he thought about being a role model. I may not have the quote exactly correct but it went something like this

"........Being a role model is very important and something we as proffesional athelets should take very seriously. We should be both honored and congnisent every day of the fact young people will try and COPULATE us." That would be EMULATE Andre!

when they were talking to Ray Buchanan at the half yesterday, he said, he liked his coach's "call playing." That was just a slip, of course. He was a good interview. He said he thought the trainers were slipping Vick prozac.

anyway, Dikembe Mutombo once said "this isn't going to be a walk in the cake for us" when referring to an upcoming series. jim rome (who I've probably listened to twice in my life) played it like 90 times one day.

How can you have a post on sports quotes and not have Madden comments? With gems like "not only is it a touchdown...but it's also 6 points", he is the complete opposite of Dennis Miller. You may need an education to understand Miller, but at least he didn?t insult your intelligence with nit-wittery.
