La Laf -2 over Texas St ******
Love the Cajuns here today....they won the 1st time in Laf 81-58.This is a terrible match up for the Bobcats...esp. on defense...Laf has the best pt gd in the conf in Peyton who avs 20 pts a game,ranked 26th in scoring in the country and 15 th in steals.They also have 6'9 Long who also avgs 20 pts a game,6th in the country in double-doubles,8th in rebounding and 17th in blocked shots.
Tex defense has really improved this year with their new coach but think they will have problems stopping Payton.Tex has no interior defense or shot blockers...Bobcat offense is terrible...they avg 63 pts a game and have no gds that can create a shot of their own...Hawkins the pt gd cannot dribble penetrate or shoot...he had 5 pts the other nite vs Monroe with one assist and played 30 minutes...Davis the other gd hit 3 long FG's in the 1st 10 minutes and missed the rest of the game...Wright again was benched when he and Gant got into a shouting match on the floor...Wright threw a pass at 60 mph at Gant from 10 feet...it went into row 3 where I was sitting...then Wright yelled to Gant " pay attention "...that was it, Gant went off screaming at Wright and the next thing you know Wright was benched the rest of the 1st half...
Texas had a 14 pt lead created by the 2nd team after Kasper benched his entire 1st team....these kids played great....the question is who do you start in the 2nd half....the bench or your starters...her started his starters and Monroe came back...think Tex scored 5 pts in the 1st 12 minutes of the 2nd half..the lead changed hands the last 4 or 5 minutes but Tex pulled it off...
Laf is No 1 in scoring in the Sun conf,2 in scoring margin,2nd in FG%,3rd in 3pt%. texas is at the bottom of those stats.. Tex is No 1 in scoring defense. Laf is way ahead in assists,steals,turn over ratio,etc
Think the Bobcats will have a tough time vs the Cajuns this afternoon...there is no home court advantage other then shooting in your comfortable gym...there were maybe 300 fans at the Monroe game...the same today maybe less because its 70 degrees today in Austin....
Laf wins this by double digits....if both teams bring their A game....even if Laf brings it B+ game and Bobcats their A Laf stills covers....
Shot all air balls last nite in the MAAC 0-4...terrible...watched Manhattan put it to Canisius with Beamon hitting 3's from all over...
This afternoon this will be my 2nd biggest play of the year...and I think I will sit in row 3 again...
