Odd though - in the articles I have read, it never mentions his political affiliation.......
Opening line:

"Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was convicted Wednesday on charges that he accepted bribes, free trips and other gratuities from contractors in exchange for helping them secure millions of dollars in city work while he was in office, including right after Hurricane Katrina."

But in this article, about NY Republican Rep Michael Grimm, here is the opening line to the news article:

"Embattled New York Republican Rep. Michael Grimm threatened to "break" a NY1 reporter and throw him off a balcony after President Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday night."

Nope - there is no media bias at all. A NY Representative and a former Mayor of New Orleans, one ACCUSED of threatening a reporter, the other CONVICTED on 20 of 21 counts against him. One's party affiliation is promptly displayed in the article and then several times thereafter - the other, no party affiliation EVER mentioned.

He'll be unaffiliated for the next twenty years.

So what's more important to you, his ex party affiliation or the fact he got a fair trial and conviction?

Duff:
Don't really care - it is interesting to me.

Huge county corruption scandal in Cuyahoga County, Ohio a few years back. My attorney friend worked the case from the prosecutorial side. I followed the case. The fraudulent politicians were all Dems but the local newspapers never reported on party affiliation.

Real Journalism is that you are supposed to report the facts and let the reader form an opinion.
Journalists are not supposed to bias the news, either way.

I'm glad Nagin was found guilty as well as the businessmen who bribed him.
