Faria was called up from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday and is expected to start Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

This fits with plans to add a starter this week to account for Saturday's doubleheader. The 23-year-old righty has always missed a notable amount of bats in the minors, but he has posted a career-best 34.7 percent strikeout rate this season, to go with a 3.07 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in the International League. However, while Faria boasts a plus changeup, he relies a lot on deception, and lacks a second plus pitch.

That profile is similar to what Jharel Cotton and Jose De Leon bring to the table, and Faria could experience similar struggles against big-league hitters. This could be simply a spot start, assuming Matt Andriese (groin) returns Saturday as expected.
