RED SOX/BLUE JAYS Over 8 +100 - Yes this is a marquis pitching match-up between quite possibly the two best pitchers in the American League, but there are a couple of factors here that make me feel that the value lies with the Over here at this modest number. First of all, Halladay has not pitched well vs. the Red Sox, especially at Sky Dome. He is just 4-5 lifetime vs. Boston with a 4.66 ERA, and opposing Sox batters are hitting .283 off of him. Given that this Boston offense scored the most runs in the Major Leagues last year, I expect his troubles against them to continue. Secondly, Pedro is simply not on top of his game right now. He now has a very un-Pedroesque 4.82 ERA, and even his ratio is higher than normal at 1.39 after the pasting he took at the hands of the Orioles in his last start, when he allowed 7 earned runs and 8 hits with an uncharacteristic 4 walks in 5 innings. Yes, the Blue Jays have not been hitting, but it is just a matter of time before Delgado, Vernon Wells & Co. bust out of their funk, and they should be able to scratch out enough runs here to help insure the Over.
