RED SOX/RANGERS Under 9.5 -110 ? It is unusual to see a total this high posted in a game started by Pedro Martinez, as the total is usually between 7 and 8 whenever he starts. Martinez is coming off of a July in which he went a perfect 5-0 with a ridiculous 0.64 ERA in 6 starts, raising his overall mark to 14-2 with a 2.36 ERA and a sensational 0.93 WHIP in 145 innings. He has had no problem with Texas in recent seasons, going 3-0 with a 1.73 ERA in 4 starts against them over the last 3 years. Also, the Under is now 13-9 in all of Pedro?s starts this season, and 76-52 59.38% in his last 128 starts overall. Of course, the reason for this high total is the presence of Aaron Myette on the mound for Texas. Myette is 0-3 in 4 starts this season, with a horrible ERA of 10.42. However, since I expect Pedro to give up no more than 2 runs, Boston could score as many as 7 runs and this game STILL would go Under. Interestingly, as bad as Myette has been, he has pitched well in both of his career starts vs. Boston, allowing 2 and 3 runs respectively.
