KANSAS CITY ROYALS +145 - With all due respect to Derek Lowe, the Royals appear to be one of the best values I have seen all season at this price. Sure, Kansas City went 3-6 on their just completed road trip, but they did take 2 out of 3 at Baltimore over the weekend and they remain a perfect 10-0 YTD here at home. They are averaging 5.10 runs per game in this stadium while beating up on right-handers to the tune of a .296 team batting average. Furthermore, Lowe has not even come close to approaching his dominant form of last season, as he currently owns a 5.29 ERA with a terrible ratio of 1.58 in 32.1 innings. He has allowed at least 5 earned runs in each of his 3 road starts, failing to go more than 6 innings in any of them. Granted, May?s ERA of 4.91 is nothing to write home about, but he has really only had 1 bad start all year, allowing 3 runs or less in each of his other 3 starts. He also pitched well vs. these Red Sox at Fenway Park last week, allowing only 1 run and 5 hits in 5.1 innings. Finally, should the bullpens get involved in this game, the Royal have had the huge edge so far. The KC bullpen has a group ERA of 3.62 with a decent 1.30 ratio, while Boston?s bullpen-by-committee has been lit up, with a whopping 5.59 ERA and a 1.56 ratio.
