RED SOX/YANKEES Under 9 ?125 - This looks like a rather high total when you consider that the 5 Boston games in their first round series with Oakland averaged a total of 7.0 runs per game, while the Yankees 4 games with Minnesota averaged an even lower 5.5 runs per contest. In fact, NONE of the playoff games this year for either of these clubs has exceeded this posted total of 9! Mussina pitched his best ball here at home this season, where he was 10-5 with a 3.09 ERA and an outstanding 1.03 ratio. The Under was 9-6, 60.0% in all of his home starts. The Moose pitched very well in 2 home starts vs. the Red Sox, allowing 1 and 3 runs respectively while going 8 innings in each effort. Wakefield has pitched reasonably well on the road, going 6-3 with a good 3.94 ERA. The last time he pitched at Yankee Stadium, he held the Bronx Bombers scoreless on just 4 hits in 7 innings on September 6, when these clubs were still fighting for the AL East crown.
