INTERLEAGUE STATS: The Reds are 34-39 since interleague play started in 1997, including a 4-11 record last season.

Ken Griffey Jr. and Carlos Delgado have 28 homers in interleague games, the most in the majors. Griffey has driven in 69 runs, tied for third and trailing Sammy Sosa (77) and Delgado (75) for the interleague lead.

Reds designated hitters went 10-for-31 (.323) with one homer and four RBIs in nine interleague games last season. Sean Casey was the designated hitter for three games, and Griffey and Deion Sanders filled the role twice apiece. D.T. Cromer and Alex Ochoa each had a game at DH.

The DH will give Boone a chance to get his four outfielders (Griffey, Adam Dunn, Austin Kearns and Juan Encarnacion) into the lineup. He also may use one of his backups as the DH to give him playing time.

Should give the Reds a potent offense for these DH games, especially against the Rangers pitching staff. Also this weekend with the Angels, despite their impressive team 3.82 ERA, I am leaning toward high scoring games.
