How did it go in Reno?

Worst tourney in 20 years for me. Didn't even crack 1600 AE!

On to Baton Rouge!

Same here. 560 was my high series; shot it in team. Actually made a few more dollars in brackets than I put in which surprised me seeing as my last game was a 165. Less than 500 in both singles and doubles...ouch. 1525 AE for me...and I was 2nd best out of the 10 on the trip...
we all shoulda stayed home...not!

Gambling went well as long as I was betting sports...gave all the winnings and then some back playing blackjack and craps....:142smilie

Baton Rouge(and a trip to NOLA) await next year...:toast:

I lost $740.00 in brackets. My high set was in team as well...571. Glad(well, not glad but....) to see you and your buds struggled as I was a bit embarrassed with my performance. But, if you can throw 1 strike( I actually started with a double in team event) you can throw a bunch more. Just wasn't my tourney to bowl well. Really tough shot!

I also did well betting on college hoops but the crap tables were unkind.

Thanks for the follow up.

Since I bowled as bad as I did in team, I skipped brackets in Singles and Doubles--one of the guys dropped 1200 total in brackets as he was determined to get back what he lost in team the next day....
Worst I've bowled at Nationals in quite a few years, too.
Maybe Baby Johnson will redeem us Madjacker's....:toast:

What pattern was the shot? Was it impossible to get the ball to the hole (zero room)or no carry, or both?
The first year I went to nationals was in 2001. Pretty humbling to say the least. I didn't feel so bad though because Marshall Holman bowled on the pair beside us and he opened up with 150. Lots of f-bombs as well :142smilie
Last time I was out was in 2007. Same thing, struggled pretty bad. Seemed like no matter what ball I threw or what move I made it either went right in the beak or way light leaving 2, 8 ,10's. To add insult to injury some dude right beside us shot 790 throwing it coast to coast and it was like he had the whole lane to play? Amazing how easy the "house shot" is and then go play on that torture...

If you can cover some boards you may have a shot. Like I said, if you can throw 1 strike, you can throw a bunch. Not gonna blame anyone but me. I had the wrong equipment. Took 2 balls and tried to make them work. I refuse to take phucking 6-8 bowling balls to Nationals. That's just stupid!

Next year I'll drill up something that hooks on water. Won't be able to use here but at least I'll have a Nationals ball.

BTW, I left probably 9 or 10 7-pins and 1 10-pin over the 9 games. I'm right handed. The swisher shot just wouldn't carry.

Typical nationals shot, IMO. If you found a board that allowed you to get it to the pocket and carry a strike--AND you could continue to hit that board with the right speed and right rotation of the ball off your hand, you would do very well. In the years I've shot well at nationals there would be a couple of boards to play with and you could be off a bit with your ball speed and score well. Not this year, at least for me. A guy on the pair next to us put up a couple of low 700s in both singles and doubles and told us he shot 678 in team--so it was being done--just not by any of us....:142smilie
Reason its so easy to score at home for me is I've got 4-5 boards to play with every night and if my speed is off the lighter oil will allow the ball to at least get to the pocket and leave me with spares that I can convert. You miss at nationals and you are looking at a washout--my doubles partner left at least 5 Greek churches during the 6 game set. It was brutal out there this year. Gonna tear it up in baton rouge next year, though....:00hour
