If they really wanted the best 2 teams in the Championship game, this would be the way to go.
Clearly, the BCS is too record dependant - look at the rankings, first it is the 0 loss team, then all the 1 loss teams, then the 2 loss teams, etc..... everyone knows that, without taking schedule into account, just looking at how many losses a team has is a poor way to rank teams.
Once Vegas hung out a 9.5 on this game (I think the highest # in NC history), we knew that this game was a huge mismatch. AND the #2 team was favored!
Let the odds makers do the rankings each week. They are probably the most skilled at evaluating each team, and ranking them appropriately.
I realize the NCAA would be scared to death to have anything to do with gambling, but it seems like this would produce the best result? Isn't that what they want, they 2 best teams in the game (yes, I realize the answer to that question is no, they don't care - they want the best matchup in terms of television dollars)....
