Now I know once again why I went Independent. Even though most of my family would like to kill me for doing that.
The Home Land Security Act sure has some odd things attached.
When they put in a bill to protect a huge drug company like E Lilly.
Thats just wrong. A Republican congressman added a clause protecting E Lilly from any law suites, becasue they are the main supplier for Small Box Vaccine. Hey no big deal. Only 3 out of ever million will have problems and die from the shot. No one has problem with that. But when they add words to protect E Lilly from the bad mistake it made with another drug a couble years ago. Thats BS. This mistake left thousands of children ruined for life. Many law suites or the means to come to a agreement were close to happening. After this law based it left all these mothers and fathers with no recorse to do anything.
But what gets my ass is when asked who placed the wording in the bill. Every Republican ran for cover. All the talks shows this weekend and news report last day have still not oncovered who it was. Congressman Burton at least had the balls to say the White house ordered those words placed in that bill. But white house said O-No not us believe it was Tom Delay wrong spelling. But he said O No it was that other guy believe Burton. They know it was a Republican but none have the balls to say who. There all ducking. And all of this was to help Home Land Security. Oh I feal so much mor secure. The Pres needs to show off his balls on this one like he does everday about Iraq.

why would i defend them if they were being hypocritical????

or being scared and lacking courage????

i am very conservative, and agree with them on almost every issue....but i do take great issue with what is going through homeland security.....

one point you need to realize though....every single drug there is, is going to have adverse effects....and invariably will affect some part of the population.....now for those who do get harmful side effects -- does that give them a right to sue??? and when they do sue, sentiment is always on the side of the trial lawyers and those who get hurt.....sure, everyone feels bad about these complications....but awarding them $$ at the expense of everyone else -- is that right?

that is a risk you take by undergoing modern medicine.....my opinion is take the risk or leave it.....and as more and more experimental drugs are being used, the cost of these drugs is going to keep getting ridiculous as large sums of $$ are being given away.....and unless something gets done about it, eventually no one will be able to afford to develop a drug or afford a prescription

Doc Im not sure if I could see you or anyone. Have there child given a drug with double the mecury it should have. That turn these kids into vegtables or dam near that state. The drug company Lilly understand there screw up. The mercury in these shots MIGHT have been the standard for some very healthy 30 year old. But not a 1,2,3 year old. Believe you understand. Now as a young parrent you would want soneone ass. This is not the poor the hot coffe on myself chit and lets sue. This is real life. These kids are done for the rest of ther life due to poor qualty control. The qualty control I pay thru the nose for everytime I get drugs. It's not like these huge drug companies are going broke. Kind Sir there roleing in the doe. Now we need the law maker to step forward thats trying to screw these young parents.

Don't even get me started there was alot of bad chit attached to this bill. Yet when the democrats tried to have some of it taken out the pres and vp questioned their patriotism.

that whole mercury thing is a big joke......do some real research on it and you will see......i have already.....a big stink was raised cuz mercury in the MMR shots linked to autism....it is a bunch of horsesht....autism is first observed at same age as MMR shots....can't diagnose earlier.....true SCIENCE has since revealed absolutely NO correlative much less causative findings.....

you must know what a valid scientific study entails first......if methodology isn't followed, you can come up with any results....lawyers feed of this.....

i agree DJV....time to stop this backdoor legislation on both parties...time to see a little honesty and forthrightness instead of under the table maneuvering....

I cant stand George W, everytime I hear him speak I feel that he is lying. I support a ground swell movement to have a independent ticket of John McCain as Pres and Jesse Ventura as VP, now these guys would actually try to do what they campaign for. I may have to nix McCain if he keeps up with this anti internet gambling crusade.

Jesse Ventura???????? YIKES!!!!!

AS a Minnesotan, I can only bid goodbye to the worst govenor the state has ever had. This guy was only about self-promotion, never took the blame for anything and left the state with a $4-5 Billion dollar deficit. THIS GUY SUX! And this is from ne whoo voted for him!

As for the Home Security Bill, it pains me when a bill with good intentions is laundered with so much crap. While some of the additions may have had merit on their own, their inclusion in this bill is simply bad politics and bad for the country.

It is sad to say, but as time rolls along, it appears that despite posturing and grandstanding on controversial issues, when it comes to crunch time - there is little or no difference between Republicans and Democrats. This type of under the table action happens every day and we get the shaft because of it. This country needs a viable third party, not the Green Party or the Socialist Party, but a party that would represent the average Joe and his/her needs. Unfortunately, I doubt that I will see this in my lifetime. And if such a third entity existed, how long would it take before they became just like the other two? Say one thing, but do something else. Everything is about fund raising and money, and that includes a healthy dose of "what's in it for me?"

This wasn't even the same bill that the Republican majority house passed nearly two months ago. In the bill, Citizen have the right to sue but are limited to the award they can receive. This is what the companys asked for in return to make a vaccine stockpile so the whole country could be vaccinated in case of many different bio-terrorism threats that may occur. Daschle and company have been trying to sabotage this bill since day one and you don't have any stone cold proof who put this legislation into the bill.

and don't you think it's a little bit fishy that Daschle wouldn't even allow a vote in the senate on a bill that passed the bipartisan house with flying colors for over two months. Then the Liberals get thier asses handed to them in the midterm elections and right before the lame duck session ends Daschle brings the bill to the podium with all this bullshit that was never even in the bill when the house passed it.

I did a bit of research on these kids you were talking about. Each one of these kids will be allowed medical treatment for the rest of their lives and will recieve more money then they can make in their lifetimes. However, they won't be rewarded billions of dollars. This measure had to be taken or else the drug company's wouldn't stick their neck out even more to make bio terror vaccinations for the whole country as they know it would lead to more problems an immenent bankrupcy for these company's. I think it's fair tradeoff, but I also think they need to find a way to neutralize these people who are suing because they are fat. I guess nothing will make evryone happy but Saddam Hussein is capable of sending disease carriers through our airports and I feel better knowing the vaccinations are already in process with the threat of war in the near future. Whoever put this in the legislation didn't have cruel intentions towards these kids but they had their arm twisted by the drug company's. These kids will all get fairly treated, the fact is that Republicans had to negotiate with theses companys who refused to make these vaccines our country needed. the spin that you are trying to put on this is totally riducluous.

No spin needed.Dan Burton after saying no I didn't do it. Now says Yes it was me. But he also said at the last minute the white house told him to do it. Of course the white house has no idea what he talking about. So he's the fall guy and why not he's not running anymore after this term. So His words. This was added in last minute move tells us no spin needed. By the way Lilly the compnay involved is making very little of the small box vaccine. So words in this bill directed at Lilly kind-a make the spin for itself.
