TO START - I figure Zerpa is making a good move here. This filly can only profit from the shorter trip. Good return on investment for this jockey and conditioner duo. The July 7th race at Gulfstream Park was at a class level of (71). Dropping to a lower class level a significant amount, so she should be in a good spot

Hothersal stretches out for deadly combo in Cliff Hanger

Track: Monmouth Park

Race 8

Sunday's 8th race (4:38pm ET) from Monmouth Park is the Grade 3 Cliff Hanger for 3-year-olds and up traveling a mile and an eighth on the turf course.

#2 Hothersal (7-2) made a middle move before weakening from post 13 in the G3 Jaipur at six furlongs on turf June 11. He ran well in both local turf routes last year including a place finish in the G3 Oceanport. Lopez is 7-for-8 with Servis recently and the lightly raced 8-year-old (21 starts) runs well fresh. He will probably stalk the pace.

#3 Il Segreto (3-1) invades from France and Clement is a profitable 26% with shippers to the US. The consistent turf performer probably fits with these.

#5 Can'thelpbelieving (5-2) cuts back a furlong 3rd off the shelf for the productive McCarthy/Motion team. He handles this trip (5-1-2-1) and should be heard from late.

Rachel's Temper makes first start for hot barn in Summer Colony

Race 8

#4 Rachel's Temper (6-1)

Monday's 8th race (5:02pm ET) from Saratoga is the $100,000 Summer Colony for fillies and mares traveling a mile and an eighth on the main track.

#4 Rachel's Temper (6-1) missed by a nose at course/distance July 27 and show finisher Jules N Rome returned to win the $100,000 Saratoga Dew last Monday. New trainer Baker (4 for last 8) is on a roll here (7-for-17 at current meet) and he is a profitable 26% first after the claim. Rosario rides back and he was also aboard for her 5-length sprint win at Belmont June 9.

#6 Eskenformoney (8-5) is usually in the mix in stakes races but frequently settles for minor awards. She enters in decent form, reunites with winning rider Castellano, and projects an outside stalking trip.

Renown can make it two straight turf marathon wins in John's Call 8/23/2016 12:28 PM

Race 9

Wednesday's 9th race (5:40pm ET) from Saratoga is the $100,000 John's Call for 3-year-olds and up traveling thirteen furlongs on the turf course.

#1 Renown (4-1) exits a game nose victory over #10 Street Fashion (9-2) in the Cape Henlopen at Delawarw Park July 9 and that was his second win in as many US starts wearing blinkers. Sharp, low profile trainer Voss shows a +ROI with this type of layoff runner and Cruz has early/pressing options from the hedge. Street Fashion likes hitting the board on turf (10-0-3-3).

#3 Mr Maybe (8-5) shows up in a tight spot after finishing 7th in the G1 United Nations and 3rd in the G2 Mac Diarmida. He easily won his first two turf starts for Chad Brown last fall and is strictly the one to beat.

Tuesday's 1st race (5:25pm ET) from Presque Isle is a $7,500 claiming event for fillies and mares which have never won four races. They will be dashing five and one-half furlongs on the all-weather Tapeta surface.

#3 Withalittlehope (5-1) exits back-to-back course/distance wins under Pino and the patient type should get pace help again. She gets another favorable inner draw and looms a solid threat to win again.
