So that's why I'm enthusiastic about Rick Perry."

In the same exchange, Jeffress told Acosta that the Southern Baptist Convention "has officially labeled Mormonism as a cult." In fact, a website maintained by the Southern Baptist Convention lists the Mormon faith under its "New Religions and Cults" section, which also includes Jehovah's Witnesses and the Church of Scientology.

This is the problem with a significant part of the Republican party... the evangelicals. Their political views and support are based solely upon their religous beliefs.

Don't know where you're getting the idea that most didn't have a problem with much of that man's rhetoric - most of us had a problem with it when it was an issue.

Not surprising that those carrying the conservative bucket of water think Perry hunting for year at a place know for what it is known for is a "bunch of BS." Clearly, this doesn't bother some... I think it shows a lot about what this guy is about, privately. The fact that Hedge and others accept without knowing that all of a sudden this camp says it was painted over decades ago when there are other reports saying they've seen it in years since is also not surprising.

Everything is going to be an issue these days. He simply has to deal with it as all who run for office do. I don't think he'll lose any of his supporters over this, so it probably won't matter that much - he'll get the same number of votes, most likely. Maybe gain a few in the process...
