With rivalry games upcoming just thought I would post some results from rivalry games from last year. As a dog bettor I am not trying to sway people into betting on dogs in these games. Rather I am just making some aware how often the dog covers/wins. I look at a few other factors when deciding if a dog is worth a shot but here are some that covered/won last year:

GA beats GA Tech 31-17 as 3pt away dog

Bama beat Auburn 31-7 as 3pt home dog

Miss St beats Ole Miss 36-28 as 3pt home dog (many services were on Ole Miss, making Miss St one of my favorites last year in these games. home dog in a rivalry game with many services touting Ole Miss is an automatic, imo)

Oklahoma lost 13-16 to OU St as 27 pt home fav

VA barely covers as 15 pt home dog to VA Tech, losing 17-31

TX beat TX A&M 21-7 as 14pt road fav (it was 14.5 at some books by gametime, but we'll call it a push)

Washington beat WSU 26-14 as 1.5pt home dog

Arizona beat ASU 34-21 as a 7pt road dog

Oreg St got the cover in a 14-17 loss to Oregon as a 11pt road dog.

Again not trying to sway anyone, just a reminder how well dogs do in these situations. FLA covered last yr vs FSU as a big fav and NC St covered this yr as a road fav vs UNC so it is important to pick your spots carefully when taking either side in these games. GL to all this week.

Auburn+10 and Washington+8.5 are my two strongest leans in this saturdays rival games. Will obviously look into these and others as the week goes on. But at 1st glance it just seems like alot of pts for 2 teams that are playing their best stretch of football this yr.

Bama to Roll the Tigers

Bama to Roll the Tigers

Bama will kick tiger tail all day sat. 9-0 against the worst Dubose team. Savor it. It won't happen again with Coach Fran on the job. We would be undedeated this year if not for a fumble against OK and Tyler Watts injury against UGA. We haven't even been behind in a road game this year. Jason Campbell will be scared to death. I tried to tell all the LSU people last week, this team is focused and on a mission. We won't be in Atlanta but Bama IS the best in the SEC. Mark Richt is thankful he wont get a rematch in Atlanta. Bama will humiliate the Tigers. 11 points. take it to the bank.

Pat ole Franny on his behind for now Bammers.......when he loses a few games you will be calling for his job just as quick as you all called for Dubose's when he lost some games! I would not be so worried about Road Games either.........we are coming to your house to fight! Auburn's one more pititful Record........7-4 right now, SAVOR THAT!

BIG RIVAL DOGS ARE USUALLY GOOD GAMES TO BET ON, HOWEVER I WOULD BE CAREFUL BETTING AGAINST THE TIDE. THE LINE OPENED AT 9.5 AND IS HIGH AS 11 IN SOME PLACES. THIS ISN'T REGULAR OLD JOE BLOW BETTOR RAISING THIS LINE THIS IS SHARP MONEY. IT SEEMS THE BIG PLAYERS THINK AUBURN'S HUGE LET DOWN LOSS LAST WEEK COUPLED WITH SEVERAL INJURIES TO KEY PLAYERS, STARTING QB, RB, FB, AND MLB, WILL LEAD TO A TWO TD WIN FOR THE TIDE AT HOME. ALSO REMEMBER THAT AUBURN DOESN'T MATCH UP WILL WITH BAMA ON OFF. AUBURN'S KEY TO WINNING IS THE RUN AND IT LOOKS DOUBTFUL THAT THEY'LL GET ANY RUNNING DONE AGAINST THE TIDE'S INSANE RUN D. I'M NOT PLAYING ON THE TIDE RIGHT NOW(STILL WAITING FOR MORE INJ INFO ON AU) BUT I WOULD NOT PLAY THE TIGERS EVEN IF THE LINE WAS 14.

GOOD LUCK

:D :D :D

P.S. RUTGERS +28.5 LOOKS QUITE TASTY

Despite last year.......(crickets chirping)........there have been very few games decided by more than 7 points in this series! I would not care if Auburn was starting Mrs. Tubberville at QB and the ladies Soccer team as our offensive line! WE PLAY BAMA TIGHT NO MATTER WHAT! A man can perform miracles if there is enough pride and fight left in them! I remember that ass kicking we took last year! I know the Tigers do! and coming in as a 10 point dog to BAMA.........It's downright insulting! Throw some salt in Jason Campbell and Ronnie Browns wounds and watch em come up swinging like Mike Tyson in a night club!

Yeah Bama may just beat the Tigers this weekend.........but by 10 points............gimme a break!

also look for Penn State to roll against the Spartans and I think Johnson has a good chance of getting the 200+ yards he needs to get to 2,000 this year giving him a good shot to win the Heisman:eek:

John,

Got your check for the hats, thank you very much. I agree on UW and Auburn. I am well aware of how talented their opponents are but still seems like alot of points here. With the injuries to Auburn I am sure public perception is down on them so all the more reason I like them. Not so sure about USC as I hate going against the home dog in a rival game. Another reason I don't like them is they have a game with Notre Dame the game after. Everyone on espn was talking about that game w/o mention that they have to beat UCLA 1st for it to even matter what happens if they win/lose the Notre Dame game. That kind of talk all week may have the players looking ahead to the ND game a little.

I like Michigan but was hoping Ohio St would be favored by closer to 7. But I said back when they played Purdue I may go against them every week with the pressure rising and I just may keep going against them. Not so sure about Texas Tech yet. Seems like alot of pts but not sure how they will come out after the big upset of Texas.

a few small tidbits on the rivalry games from the gold sheet:

North Carolina at Duke...Heels have won and covered last 5 vs. nearby Tobacco Road neighbor Duke, which hasn't beaten UNC outright since Steve Spurrier's 1989 team won 41-0.

Michigan at Ohio State...Underdog-oriented series for several seasons, with "short" 10-5-1 vs. line last 16.

Illinois at Northwestern...Road team 11-3 vs. line last 14 meetings.

Indiana at Purdue...Home team has covered last 4 in battle for "Old Oaken Bucket."

Western Michigan at Central Michigan...CMU has covered 5 of last 6 in series.

Southern Cal at UCLA...Trojans have won outright last 3 after Bruins claimed previous 8 in a row. Underdog 11-2 vs. line last 13, and 14-4 last 18 meetings for "Victory Bell."

Stanford at Cal...Cardinal has won last 7 straight up in "Big Game," though dog has covered 8 of last 9 meetings.

Auburn at Alabama...Visitor has covered last 3, and 6 of last 7 in "Iron Bowl."

BYU at Utah...Visitor has covered last 10 meetings, and dog has covered 8 of last 9 in this old in-state rivalry.

South Carolina at Clemson..."Palmetto State" rivalry has seen road team cover 11 of last 13 battles.

Oregon at Oregon State...Ducks have failed to cover 6 of last 7 "Civil War" trips to Corvallis.

Washington at Washington State...Huskies have won and covered last two Apple Cups after failing to cover previous 6.

UL-Lafayette at UL-Monroe...Road team has covered last five in series.

Bluemound,
Instead of your simile - <I>"...come up swinging like Mike Tyson in a night club!" </I>, how about this one - <I>"...come up biting like Mike Tyson in a heavyweight championship".</I> <img src="http://www.geocities.com/bogies3.geo/CarrotTop.JPG">

FWIW, I think the Tide is on a Roll, pun intended. I've teased them to 0 but I think they win by at least 2 TD's.
