Just planning my tv time for next week. Can anyone till me when the following keynote speakers will be addressing the white collar criminals in attendance in what will be called next week the "spin cities".

Will Tom DeLay be following Jack Abramoff on Tuesday? Hopefully Ted Stevens will get his long awaited chance to talk to the masses on Congressional ethics. Dying to hear Sen. Larry Craig speak on family values, God and public sanitation in the nations airports. I hear Alberto Gonzalez has recruited a bunch of assistant US attorneys to entertain the largely white, wealthy audience with his puppet act.

I heard especially do not miss the opening night, Monday where Mark Foley conducts, with his special baton, the Alumni Congressional Page Choir in our National Anthem followed be a rousing rendition of Let Hear it for the Boys. Terry Schiavo is going to stop by and be honored for her accomplishments during the administration. Don Rumsfeld has asked to take a low key approach due to health reasons and is touring Guantanamo to further secure the country.

Just looking forward to hearing how the economy is doing well since I gave you $600 big ones, the foreclosure crisis and housing prices are a myth, we are winning the war in Iraq as we have been since the mission was accomplished and the media were only showing the bad stuff, we should all go shopping, no terrorist attack on US soil since 9-11 and if you elect Obama there will be, but we do have problems folks. we have to lower taxes so that corportations can continue to compete and of course we must kill the trial lawyers.

Excertps from McCain acceptance speech:

How do we know this is the right course for America? God told us. For we are the GOP. God's Own Party. And God said, this administration will bomb Iran. Even though we have a jew for a vice-president, remember nascar nation, Christ was a jew before he converted. (large roar from audience who believes this is correct because they know it is in Bible) (some guy holds up sign reading "Bipple 3:4-10"). Lieberman than accepted with huge hug backstage from John Hegge.

"And so, my friends, vote for the Maverick and the Jew, the bottom line is we will lower all taxes, kill all arabs and take their oil. You vote for the half breed and mic, you get higher taxes, giving in to the terrorists, and high oil prices.

God bless you and God lbess the Great Satan

Eddie i hear Rudy 9/11 will be the first speaker. This guy can't get one sentence out without lying. Im sure he will be harping on how Obama will be raising everyones taxes like he usually does (which is a complete lie)with any democrat. Im still stunned that he didn't con his way into this nomination. I was way off on that prediction.

Gary I'm glad you asked. I looked up the answer in Wikipedia and found the following:

Wayne is the great Satan, followed by Karl Rove, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Mike Brown, Joe Montana, and Tom Glavine (my last baseball bet ever and boy was it a doosey). Went into GA after that one.

i finally translated edward`s amazing post...my translation:

"we're done even pretending to support even the most basic american values....capitalism is evil, individuality is evil, the english language is evil...

the oil companies are evil, and drilling is evil, and running power lines anywhere is evil...nuclear power plants are evil...

all american wars are evil(but russia's wars are o.k. because they were forced into them by OUR evil!)......

the military is evil, and protecting our citizens or international interests is a lie....

america itself is evil and rotten to the core and always has been. ...vive la revolucion!"

...and as good marxists, they rely on the indoctrinated "youth" to propel them(when did the party of jeffereson become the party of karl marx?)...

and this in chicago....the attempted suppression of free speech...

""Sen. Barack Obama's campaign is organizing its supporters tonight to
confront Tribune-owned WGN radio in Chicago for having a critic of the
Illinois Democrat on its air.
"WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to
air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears," Obama's campaign
wrote in an e-mail to supporters. "He's currently scheduled to spend
a solid two-hour block from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. pushing lies, distortions,
and manipulations about Barack and University of Illinois professor William Ayers."

"It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our public airwaves," the note continued. "At the very least, they should offer sane, honest rebuttal to every one of Kurtz's lies.".....

Christenson said the Obama campaign was asked to have someone appear on the show and the headquarters declined the request.

they said,"He got into the files just yesterday, so we wanted to have him on to find out what he found and, if at all possible, we wanted to get the Obama campaign to get their side of the story," Christenson said. "That's why the uproar is kind of amazing, because we wanted the Obama campaign's take as well to kind of balance it out."

kurtz, after much resistance by the "powers that be",was able to force the library to let him examine documents inviolving the extent of bock`s relationship with american terrorist william ayres....

Please. You missed. Allow me.

We support true American values ...... higher, stronger, faster (oh, sorry, still living in last week). Define the word "we" as in "we the people..." as all not just wealthy and priviledged. Values are defined as truth, justice, equality to corporations and welfare recipients.

Capitalism is good. Greed is evil.

Individuality is good. Individual and/or collective criminal conduct operating behind corporate or governmental insulation and protection is evil.

English language is good. Spanish, French, Mandarin, Raymond, and Kentuckian are also good.

Next one is a hard one. Oil companies taking a fair profit and charging consumers a fair amount, using drilling rights they already have and drilling responsibly, safeguarding the environment and really investing in r & d for alternative fuels for the future to reduce our dependency on foreign energy are good. However, at this time there are no good oil companies.

Energy companies who build and maintain responsible nuclear power facilities are good. France is good. French fries are good. The Frech weather girl is good.

American war defending this country are............ necessary. The rest are evil, kill Americans and people of the world. By the way, which Arab country do you think Jesus wants us to bomb next?

The military is necessary to protect ourselves. It is not evil. It would be better for mankind to turn swords into plowshares but as long as evil does exist in the world, a military and a strong military is necessary. Therefore, we must defeat Al Quida. So the logical step is to invade Iraq. (Bush-McCain logic)

In other words, the best way to win the Stanley Cup is to draft baseball players from Cuba. Republican logic.

Another evil we will eradicate will occur on the first Tuesday in November. In my view much more dangerous than Al Quida.

America is not evil. America does many good things. But like anything it also does things wrong. America at times has had evil men in charge. And America has done bad things. America must admit when it is wrong. It seems to have a very big problem doing this. Iraq and Viet Nam were wrong.

Protecting our interests when our interests are good and well intended is the right thing to do. However, when are interests are not well intentioned we must be honest and admit that we intitiated a war for oil and not for a trumpted up reason. When a war is to protect corporate america's international interests it must be weighed against the soverignty of the nation and the purpose of our government. No more lies.

America is not rotten, it is good. It's just that some rotten people who have run it lately have been able to fool a lot of dumb people who elected them.

When did the party of Lincoln become the party of Himmler? We'll see the Hitler youth, all blue eyed, blond haired, frat boy college republican types next week in the spin cities.

I'm sure Cindy McBitch will have her USC cheerleaders there. Actually, that will be a reason to watch.

Paul Krugman, from 16 July.
I wanted to post this because a commenter recently pointed out how crowded emergency rooms are with uninsured people seeking medical treatment. I reminded him that this was Bush?s suggestion.

Being without health insurance is no big deal. Just ask President Bush. ?I mean, people have access to health care in America,? he said last week. ?After all, you just go to an emergency room.?

This is what you might call callousness with consequences. The White House has announced that Mr. Bush will veto a bipartisan plan that would extend health insurance, and with it such essentials as regular checkups and preventive medical care, to an estimated 4.1 million currently uninsured children. After all, it?s not as if those kids really need insurance ? they can just go to emergency rooms, right?

O.K., it?s not news that Mr. Bush has no empathy for people less fortunate than himself. But his willful ignorance here is part of a larger picture: by and large, opponents of universal health care paint a glowing portrait of the American system that bears as little resemblance to reality as the scare stories they tell about health care in France, Britain, and Canada.

The claim that the uninsured can get all the care they need in emergency rooms is just the beginning. Beyond that is the myth that Americans who are lucky enough to have insurance never face long waits for medical care.

Actually, the persistence of that myth puzzles me. I can understand how people like Mr. Bush or Fred Thompson, who declared recently that ?the poorest Americans are getting far better service? than Canadians or the British, can wave away the desperation of uninsured Americans, who are often poor and voiceless. But how can they get away with pretending that insured Americans always get prompt care, when most of us can testify otherwise?

A recent article in Business Week put it bluntly: ?In reality, both data and anecdotes show that the American people are already waiting as long or longer than patients living with universal health-care systems.?

A cross-national survey conducted by the Commonwealth Fund found that America ranks near the bottom among advanced countries in terms of how hard it is to get medical attention on short notice (although Canada was slightly worse), and that America is the worst place in the advanced world if you need care after hours or on a weekend.

We look better when it comes to seeing a specialist or receiving elective surgery. But Germany outperforms us even on those measures ? and I suspect that France, which wasn?t included in the study, matches Germany?s performance.

Besides, not all medical delays are created equal. In Canada and Britain, delays are caused by doctors trying to devote limited medical resources to the most urgent cases. In the United States, they?re often caused by insurance companies trying to save money.

This can lead to ordeals like the one recently described by Mark Kleiman, a professor at U.C.L.A., who nearly died of cancer because his insurer kept delaying approval for a necessary biopsy. ?It was only later,? writes Mr. Kleiman on his blog, ?that I discovered why the insurance company was stalling; I had an option, which I didn?t know I had, to avoid all the approvals by going to ?Tier II,? which would have meant higher co-payments.?

He adds, ?I don?t know how many people my insurance company waited to death that year, but I?m certain the number wasn?t zero.?

To be fair, Mr. Kleiman is only surmising that his insurance company risked his life in an attempt to get him to pay more of his treatment costs. But there?s no question that some Americans who seemingly have good insurance nonetheless die because insurers are trying to hold down their ?medical losses? ? the industry term for actually having to pay for care.

On the other hand, it?s true that Americans get hip replacements faster than Canadians. But there?s a funny thing about that example, which is used constantly as an argument for the superiority of private health insurance over a government-run system: the large majority of hip replacements in the United States are paid for by, um, Medicare.

That?s right: the hip-replacement gap is actually a comparison of two government health insurance systems. American Medicare has shorter waits than Canadian Medicare (yes, that?s what they call their system) because it has more lavish funding ? end of story. The alleged virtues of private insurance have nothing to do with it.

The bottom line is that the opponents of universal health care appear to have run out of honest arguments. All they have left are fantasies: horror fiction about health care in other countries, and fairy tales about health care here in America.
......................................................................

There is blood on insurance co ,doctors and drug companies hands.

It is greed and top salaries and profits that keep us from having universal health care.

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- It took the Trim family of Arlington, Texas, three hours to go $15,000 into debt.

Alex Trim's three-hour ER visit after a bicycle accident resulted in a $15,000 medical bill.

One evening last spring, Alex Trim was knocked unconscious when a car hit his bike and he slammed into the windshield. Three hours, many stitches and seven CT scans later, Alex was discharged in pretty good shape.

About a month later, the bill arrived in the mail. "I didn't have a clue you could go into $15,000 debt in one night," said Alex's father, Callvin Trim. "When I saw that bill, I was just kind of numb."

That didn't even count bills from the doctors and the ambulance service. Plus, Trim, who has insurance, owed more than $1,100 in copayments from when he'd had kidney stones earlier in the year.

His son did not have insurance. Trim said it was "very expensive" to add him to his own policy at the private school where he's an IT director. His wife, Gayle, had just started a job as an executive assistant at a commercial real estate company and wasn't yet eligible for insurance.

A report out last month from the Commonwealth Fund found that 28 percent of the population said they were paying off medical debt in 2007, up from 21 percent in 2005.

"Two-thirds of the people who go into medical debt have insurance," said Mark Rukavina, executive director of the Access Project. "When medical debt hits, it hits very quickly. It's a jolt, and it's generally not very predictable."

"These are all honest, hardworking people," added Jessie Maurer, a medical billing advocate in West Des Moines, Iowa, who helped the Trims. "This could happen to just about anybody."

By avoiding the mistakes below, the Trims managed to get their debt under control. Here's how they did it.

Mistake No. 1: You ignore your bills

"The most dangerous thing people do when they get into debt is ignore the statements and notices," said Mary Jean Geroulo, a former hospital administrator and now a partner at Stewart and Stimmel, a health care law firm in Dallas, Texas.

"They think doctors and hospitals won't send them to collection agencies, but they absolutely will," she added.

As soon as he received the whopping bill from the hospital, the Trims contacted Maurer, the medical billing advocate. To find an advocate, visit the Medical Billing Advocates of America. The Fairness Foundation and the National Foundation for Credit Counseling also offer help to those in debt.

Mistake No. 2: You don't look for errors in your bills

"I had a client once who was charged for a surgery she never had," said Nora Johnson, vice president of Medical Billing Advocates of America in Caldwell, West Virginia. "Another one was charged more than $5,000 for disposable gloves."

Maurer says she caught about $3,000 in errors in Alex Trim's bills.

To catch errors, you have to get an itemized bill. Trim had to ask for one; he says the hospital didn't automatically send it.

Mistake No. 3: You don't negotiate the price down

"People think they have to pay the amount on the bill. But doctors and hospitals are very willing to negotiate," Rukavina said. "Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease."

Maurer, for example, says one of her clients owed $14,000 for a five-hour stay in a hospital emergency room. "She could afford to pay $4,000, so I told her, 'Show them a certified check for $4,000.' She did and told them, 'This is all I have in the world,' and they took it."

The hospital that treated Trim took $2,000 off his bill, which brought the final charges down to $10,000.

Mistake No. 4: You're embarrassed to ask for financial assistance

There are an abundance of organizations to help people financially strapped with medical debt, but you have to seek them out.

The Patient Advocate Foundation has a state-by-state directory of financial resources. The foundation also has a program for "co-pay relief" (if your co-pay is, say, 20 percent, 20 percent of a $200,000 hospital bill is a lot of money).

Since many financial assistance programs are for one specific illness, it's worth searching around on the Internet. Cancer patients should read this Empowered Patient column with information on financial resources for people with cancer.

Mistake No. 5: You don't work out a payment plan

Just as hospitals and doctors are often willing to negotiate on prices, they're also often willing to work out interest-free monthly payments.

To pay off his debt, Trim worked out interest-free monthly payments with the doctors and hospitals that treated him and his son. He pays $250 a month and owes so many different people, he isn't sure how much he owes in total -- but he knows it's at least $10,000.

"My whole life, I've tried to be smart with money," he said. "Now I've had to empty out my 401(k) to pay for all this."

Of course, it's best to avoid medical debt in the first place. If you don't have insurance, take this eligibility quiz to find out whether you qualify for low-cost public health insurance programs. The group Coverage for All also offers a state-by-state guide of health-care choices and has a help line open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Department of Health and Human Services has a guide to low-cost insurance programs especially for children.

If you have insurance, make sure it pays every penny it owes. See this Empowered Patient on challenging insurance company denials, and remember the golden rule: appeal, appeal, appeal. "Don't take a 'no' from the customer service representative on the other end of the 800 number," Rukavina of the Access Project said. "Always issue a complaint or grievance."

Shopping around at different hospitals before you have an expensive procedure can save you thousands of dollars when it comes time to pay co-payments. "I used to run hospitals, so I know how these things are priced," Geroulo said. "Just because a procedure costs $10,000 at one hospital doesn't mean you can't find it for $5,000 down the road."

She adds that although most of us shop around for other large purchases, like a car, we're not used to doing so for medical procedures. "Patients need to learn to be a lot smarter and a lot savvier about their health care," Geroulo said.

I thought he did a nice job dog. I didn't see all of it tho. Love the part when he said we saw what happens when these phony conservatives get total control. Ten trillion debt. Families paycheck sliding the wrong way while the upper 1 percent are living life on easy street with a great tax break. You get the picture. Oh wait maybe not. You are still hung up on a blow job while the countrys is in ten trillion of debt, gas and health insurance at an all time high, banks crumbling, food at an all time high, corruption at an all time high. I could go on and on but i would have to sit here for years typing.

Ten trillion Debt--so this admin put this all up there.
Lets assume Billy Bob had 4 more years that followed his leaving recession.
How could he have had a surplus with 911 and Katrina that followed.
Did nothing after 911 like he did in 98 and embolden them more waiting for another 3 years later.

Family paychecks sliding wrong way--
For the umpteenth time who in this forum is financially worse off than 8 years ago and why?

top 1 % on easy street--no shit-I would hope so-your a lot smarter than I thought to figure that one out. :)

corruption at all time high--I've yet to see any cabinet members indicted, commit suicide or procesuted--and or executive office convicted of felonies-impeached disbarred etc.
