ROCKIES/DIAMONDBACKS Over 9.5 ?125 - These clubs combined to score 14 runs last night, and I am looking for more fireworks tonight with the third starter for each team on the mound. While Dessens is a serviceable hurler for Arizona, the bottom line is that he still had a 5.07 ERA with a poor 1.53 ratio for the Diamondbacks last season, as opposing batters hit .299 off of him. He was also lit up the last time he faced the Rockies, allowing 5 earned runs on 9 hits in 5 innings. The worst part is that he cannot use Coors Field as an excuse, as that outing came here at home! Joe Kennedy was a highly regarded prospect in the Devil Rays organization, but he has yet to pan out in the Big Leagues. He had an awful season last year going 3-12 with a 6.13 ERA and a 1.60 ratio, allowing an Opponents Batting average of .303. Kennedy has modest velocity as he relies on a sharp-breaking curve ball, but his minor league success has yet to translate to getting Major Leaguers out.
