The obvious question is... If Reagan supported collective bargaining, why did he fire 11,345 striking Patco members in 1981?

I have my own opinions on that. :0003

i would say that Reagan's thoughts on unions:

1. defended private sector unions.
2. Public sector unions on strike imperil public safety and the purpose of government. (ie, the air traffic controllers)

It was a macho stunt thing to please the crowd in the cheap seats. Too many John Wayne movies.

If striking air traffic controllers imperiled the public safety, how did firing 11,345 experienced controllers make the public safer?
