Here is a writeup for this contest:
The Drexel Dragons are 1-1 on the year with a loss on the road against UCLA and a win at Illinois State. This is the opener for the NIT season tip-off and this is a great matchup between two of the better mid-majors teams. Drexel is picked to finish 4th in the Colonial this season and they figure to compete for the title with the return of star player Chris Fouch who had to sit out last season with an injury.
So far this season Fouch leads the team averaging 18.5 points per game and he is joined in the backcourt by Frantz Massenat who is averaging 16 points per game.
Elon is 2-1 to start the season and they are coming off a disappointing loss on the road against Charlotte in their last game. Elon was looking good going into the final stretch against Charlotte, but the 49ers got hot and pulled away to get the 83-69 win.
Elon has a lot of weapons on the offensive end and they are led by Tanner Sampson who is averaging 15.3 points per game and Sebastian Koch who is averaging 14.0 points per game. If Jack Isenbarger plays in this game then Elon is a steal getting this many points at home.
Even if Isenbarger doesn't play Elon will still be a tough out for Drexel. I like the Phoenix with the points and I am hopeful to see Isenbarger to get his first action of the season.
Elon +4.5
