MLB Forecast
green is good, yellow is iffy, orange is may have problems.
Forecast for 7/31, made at 8:30am central. Been a while since we had an ugly day, but it wasn't going to last forever...
YELLOW / ORANGE ATL @ WAS - I think this fits the Y/O mold nicely, as just about every potential outcome is on the table. Storms will be increasingly likely later in the game, but are possible at any point. I think the most likely outcome here is a dry start, storms arriving at some point in the game (likely the latter half), and them eventually getting back to baseball after the storms clear. Important to realize that with the volatility of pop-ups storms that there's a chance no rain hits, and a chance rain moves in earlier and this game has major problems. You are going to have to make some calls based on your own risk tolerance here, but my current feeling is that I would stick with bats despite some risk, but SP seems dicey (especially for cash games). Warm and humid with winds gently blowing out, bump to bats.
YELLOW ARI @ NYY - Similar to WASH with the pop-ups, but in this case storms should arrive even a bit later. Think a full game is the likely outcome, chance of a later-inning delay.
GREEN TOR @ KCR - Rain should already be cleared east of KC by 1st pitch, not expecting any other issues.
GREEN / YELLOW LAD @ COL - Rain likely holds west until after the game. Winds are light and variable, temps are HOT.
ORANGE / YELLOW SFG @ PHI - Storms fire in the late afternoon, continue through the evening. Flash Flood Watch has been issued, so we know they could be problematic if they end up on the wrong spot. I'm not overly impressed by the coverage models are showing at the moment, so I'm still on team "this game probably plays", but I'll need to check the latest models this afternoon and see how things look.
GREEN HOU @ CLE - Winds blowing in from center at 5-10mph.
ORANGE / YELLOW TBR @ BOS - Another fairly ugly one. I'd say models are "optimistic" that this game plays, but it's also just too early to put full faith in models. The O/Y is basically a place-holder until I can see live radar and make a real forecast based on the rain that exists, not the rain that models think will exist. Decent hitting weather with winds blowing out to center at 5-10mph.
GREEN SEA @ TEX - Hot, winds gently blowing in from left, bump to bats.
