It's not a big surprise the Sabres have only one goaltender on the ice for practice, but what is a surprise is which goalie it is.

Patrick Lalime, who missed Wednesday's practice with the flu, is the only one manning a net. Ryan Miller is absent, and Jhonas Enroth is in the back hall riding a bike. Upon conclusion of practice, we'll find out exactly what that means.

It doesn't take a news conference to determine Jochen Hecht is out and Mark Mancari is up from Portland. Hecht had a "maintenance day" Wednesday and is absent again. Mancari is skating with Adam Mair and Raffi Torres. The other lines are Tyler Ennis-Tim Kennedy-Jason Pominville, Nathan Gerbe-Derek Roy-Drew Stafford, and Matt Ellis-Paul Gaustad-Mike Grier.

Hecht out till playoffs

BOSTON -- The Sabres, who until recently had enjoyed a healthy season, have lost another forward. Jochen Hecht has an upper-body injury and will miss the final three games of the regular season, starting with tonight's game against the Bruins.

"It looks like he?ll miss the weekend," coach Lindy Ruff said after today's morning skate in TD Garden. "We?re hoping it is just the weekend."

The Sabres already were without forwards Tim Connolly, Thomas Vanek and Patrick Kaleta, though Vanek could return this weekend. The Sabres have recalled Mark Mancari to fill Hecht's roster spot.

"I?m just going to go out and have some fun," Mancari said. "Portland and Buffalo have both clinched [spots in the postseason], but all these other teams are battling to get in. Every night?s going to be a playoff game."

Patrick Lalime is scheduled to start in goal despite missing practice Wednesday because of the flu.

"It?s one of those where it?s usually a day, and you?ve just got to refill the engine," Lalime said. "You?ve still got to put more food in, but I actually feel good. It?s nice to have the energy back. We?ll be fine."

Lalime was the only goalie for the Sabres' skate. Ryan Miller got the day off.

"We want to make sure Ryan has the proper rest," Ruff said. "He?s fine."

Sabres goalie prospect Jhonas Enroth, who is out with an ankle injury, left Portland for Boston to meet with goalie coach Jim Corsi.

"He?s been able to spend a couple days and just go through a lot of the stuff we integrate in our system," Ruff said.
