I just checked the entries for the Santa Anita Handicap and I hardly recognize any of the horses. The older horses division either has horses out with injuries, or it is pathetically weak.

valuist -- barring injuries, what do you make of that? poor horse quality?

crooky--ok, neighbor, give me a link or two to watch, but i'll be watching only, as the stateside tracks have been taking enough of my money lately.:(

Crooky-

I agree that right now the Europeans seem to have the stronger horses. You even kicked our butts in the dirt races in the Breeders Cup. That said, Johannesburg will NOT win the Derby this year. This looks like Arazi all over again. One prep on the grass in Europe is not sufficient preparation for the Derby. You've got nice horses over there but the trainers have to be stupid to ignore the history of how to train a horse up to the Ky Derby.
