I'm not sure on what the math is that converts ratings like Sagarin into the RPI. But it could be a very interesting Selection Sunday, if these Sagarin ratings get much weight.

Maryland and Florida State are in the 20s, so one could logically conclude that they're probably in. Sagarin has five ACC teams ranked in the top 13.

Stanford might not be a lock #1, if they exit early in the Pac 10 tourney. Maybe the Pac-10 does suck that much.

UTEP and Richmond are in the 40s. I haven't heard anybody mention UTEP as an at-large team. Also, Nevada is in the 30s, so I'd think they're in.

It would be a real head-scratcher if Washington was shut out. #2 in Pac 10, swept Arizona, gave Stanford their only loss. But they're only #59 in Sagarin and lower in the RPI.

I incorporate Sagarin Ratings into my system but from past experience I have found his ratings are not very reliable when trying to guess the tourney field. I think Ken Pomeroys ratings are more related to the committees ratings, he also converst them into RPI as does Mike Greenfield.

Tell me who you want to know and I can tell you RPI. Sagarin is not a good barometer generally.

RP! MAryland is 31 Fla ST 48

Fair enough. I never thought Sagarin was overly accurate.

Isn't Sagarin incorporated into the RPI, though? I thought Sagarin was part of the formula.

Sagarin etc have nothing to do with RPI - it is its own formula.

I generally find Sagarin worthless for all sports and all purposes.

Generally the RPI matters a lot more for getting in than it does for seeding. Stanford was 6 going in to yesterday but obviously were going to be a 1 without question.

Zags have no shot at a 1 seed, I would be surprised if they get seeded higher than a 3. Stanford should get the number 1 west seed, St Joes east, Miss St South and Duke Midwest, but they could ship St Joes to the Midwest or the South.
