A reporter did some research

The Cubs take batting pratice 3 hours before the Game starts at home. The gates at Wrigley don't open until 90 minutes before game time and by then the Visiting team is taking batting practice.

My question to Sammy is: Who are you hitting hommers to before the game. Could it be the grounds crew.

Judge, Jury Sammy you are guilty!

I don't know about the specifics of the times, but I have been in Wrigley as a fan while the Cubs have taken batting practice before.

Not trying to defend the guy because I can't stand him but I heard the reason for the batting practice corked bat was for the people who run wild in the streets for the balls.....Just what I heard...........

I mean come on, guy hits like 900 foot hr's at the all star game without any problems....of course, being sarcastic with the 900 feet......

IMO, you are right about him lying. Don't come with the batting practice bs, or the batboy put the bat in the wrong place. It's like listening to a guiy who gets busted for drugs and says, "I swear officer, this is my first time trying drugs"....He just needs to sac up, tell the turth, and people will forgive as long as he keeps belting hr's weekly.

I heard the same report on the local radio although I thought they said the Cubs were done w/BP 2 hours before but that still means the crowd is grounds crew since they open up the gates around 11:50 for a 1:20 game. The 90 minute before game gate opening was confirmed by several different callers. It wasn't always that way, but it has been that way in recent years. I haven't seen the Cubs take BP since the late 70s.
