Relocating to southern california in a few weeks for work and was wondering if there are any golf courses in the southern california area/san diego that have any caddy jobs. been supplementing my income recently working as a caddy and its a good way to make some extra bucks on the weekend. i know that there are some looping courses in the LA area but was wondering if there is anything down by SD.
thanks in advance

wow, moving from the best city in the usa, new york, at least you are going to a desireable, warm spot like san diego, nice area i liked it the one time i was out there, just different people and slower and non-sarcastic sports fans and people but not a bad place to be come winter....
i'm a caddy as well part time @ a club on long island as got school and it's a flexible good part time thing, have done it many times after a long night of boozin too :SIB cant beat being outside, networking w/bigtime business guys, and getting cash on the spot on a beautiful golf course.......
as for looping out there, I dont know a ton, but I would check torrey pines, and la jola country club, upscale places i heard from my friend who used to live there, but if you got experience maybe they'll let you do it, or else they probably know of other places, or try coronado probably some nice clubs there.........give us aspiring warm-weather new yorkers/east coast guys a report on how the living is out there, good luck man

looping a great job. been doing it for quite a long time now. started in high school, then it was a summer job in college and now its been in between work while looking for a new job. you are right, great place to network and talk to the big shots, thats how i came across this san diego gig. caddied for a guy in a 3 day member guest here in jersey (baltusrol golf club) and told him i was looking for work. set me up with a round of interviews in socal. spent all last week out there and have an offer that is competitive with those here in the city. my viewpoint is that ive done the city for a few years, time to try the left coast. i have friends out there and have been several times so it wont all be brand new.

i know what its like walking off the hangover on the golf course. being out there on a championship course in the nice weather and getting paid well for it isnt too bad either.
ny-where do loop at?
torrey pines have no loopers, dont think la jolla does either. ill be checking the other tracks and let you know. thanks!

good stuff man.....yeah i am finishing college up and have been doing it for summers/falls for years as long as i was around to supplement anything else I was doing, great flexibility and such and cash off the books, fantastic.... I am hoping/praying that when i finish school up soon that someone there can hook me up, people blow lotta smoke up your a$$ and few deliver, but some do as your case shows, tons of wall st and financial guys and business owners, good guys to know...
wow, baltusrol is bigtime man, I am at the Rockville Links Club which is out on Long Island in a town called Rockville Centre which you may/may not have heard of, about 30 miles from nyc, nice place but kind of run of the mill as compared to real nice country clubs like yours or a deepdale, shinecock bigtime place, but it has some big-name members ie former Senator Al D'Amato, pretty cool.... member-guests are good so you get to be with a guy for a few days and hes not a member, good opportunity if the right guy...
good move out there, nyc and long island etc take a lot out of you w/the commuting, weather, overall serious attitudes, etc but great place, san diego is a nice change though.......definitely let me know how it turns out out there, not sure of other tracks but i'm sure you'll find something, coronado may have a few courses or maybe del mar real upscale suburb not far from sd.... not sure what line of work you're in and such, but interested to know for future reference about the looping and whatever else you're doing, never know where I'm gonna end up in a few yrs it might be there..., NY certainly wears on you, get my email from Jack if you like, good luck

i just got off the horn with a few different clubs out there and only a few courses offer caddying and i have the impression its very slow. no worries, ill keep looking and pay courses visits when i arrive out there. yah baltusrol has been good. the loops pay really well, the monday outings are nice and it doesnt hurt to be able to play one of the nicer courses around afterwards either. also, the membership is mostly wall street and finance. i would say its some of the biggest hitters going but then you meet someone else who is just as big as the other guy and they just keep on coming.

i have heard of rockville center. some of the caddies at b-rol go over to long island for some of the bigger tournaments, i.e. member guests. heard there is a newer course out there, sebonick (or something like that) that is the real deal with golf and membership. anyway, ill let you know how things go out there and yes, i would say keep networking at the club because you are right, lots of BS you hear but its a numbers game. if you throw enough shite against the wall....and you will have a few players who will help in some way at least.

Looks like *someone* is finally coming around.

always quoting the "essense" of a post  as I've told you, and others many times, if I had yours or a real good setup of some sort in an arizona or a florida, I'd be there, there's a reason cost of living and such is lower, and thats because most every job pays 25k a year, but hopefully put in my "time" and enjoy NY for a while and get down to ft lauderdale g-d willing down the road......The food, people, sports, bars/nightlife till all hours of the night are unmatched though ...how about visiting somewhere before you bad mouth it :nono: I will guarantee you it will be a good time

Good post. Yeah, I'm sure you can find a few spots out there, but it's surpising in a lot of places they dont have caddies (ie most of florida) and it's mainly only in the northeast boston and ny moreso, lot of west courses etc have too far a distance between holes and have to ride, and old membership.... Baltusrol must be awesome no doubt, I'm sure your pay is/was far more than mine but you probably have to know greens, yaradages etc down to a tee, which I don't still, as I dont care enough, lol, but I do an ample job and it suits them....playing there great too, outstanding I imagine, playing mondays is great, caddying in those outings scks b/c bad golfers but pay can be good for not a ton of work.....
yeah amazing the amount of money and power floating around in places like that, I keep telling myself all you need is one to help, but then again these guys owe us zero, but most of them are nice enough to throw regular guys/kids a bone....
not sure of sebonick, tons of clubs around but I got like a 3 minute drive which is nice to mine, the north shore of LI where the serious $ is has some real good ones....deepdale, oyster bay area, etc....anyway enjoy san diego bro, i'm gonna be shaking my head in 2 months when its frigid here, but my time will hopefully come to do what I want anywhere, later......
