n arizona -2-: paying an extra point for getting this in late as most of the early action is on the lumberjacks but don't believe it will matter. those that know me probably guessed this play with the dons playing their fourth road game of the week, and they're playing at altitude in flagstaff, a venue they've never been to before. it appeared the playing conditions had an effect on them @ new mexico state on saturday, where sf played closely in the first half but folded in the final period, letting the aggies score 56 points on 63% fg shooting. if that was the case, they're going to love flagstaff, which is located almost 2000 feet higher than las cruces. of note, two of the dons' top three scorers, manny quezada and armondo surratt, played 36 and 38 minutes respectively. the third, alan wiggins, was injured in some manner in the second half, but i have not been able to find any more info on that.

also, i haven't been able to find out about the dons' travel arrangements, but it doesn't really matter because there isn't an easy way to travel from las cruces to flagstaff. if anyone knows the specifics i'd appreciate a reply.

as for n arizona, the lumberjacks (love the nickname) are a veteran team that shoots well at home and are well coached. they are coming off a blowout loss at unlv and have revenge tonight by virtue of another unusual nonconference home and home matchup, having lost last monday in san francisco to the dons. san francisco won that contest by nine as a six and a half point favorite, shooting 56% from the floor while n arizona went three for nineteen from the arc. i expect neither number to be repeated tonight.

i think they either took the 25 to the 40 or the 10 to some northbound highway...NAU is in Grand Canyon Country...Otherwise I believe they would have had to charter a flight....It is a several hour trip (min 5 hours and more like 7.5 hours).

There are no "sure things" but by keeping track of SF's travel schedule, the difficulty getting to Flagstaff and more, Loop creates a VERY high risk/reward situation for those of us who can't 'cap their way out of a paper bag and rely heavily on others' information and experience.

Thanks, Loophole.
