DALLAS (Ticker) -- Mike Modano will be honored in a pregame ceremony on Sunday before the Dallas Stars continue a season-high six-game homestand against the San Jose Sharks, who continue a seven-game road trip at American Airlines Center.

The Stars are holding a ceremony to honor the impressive achievements of Modano, who has reached four milestones this season. He reached 1,000 career points, played in his 1,000th career game and became the franchise's all-time leader in assists and games played.

Modano leads Dallas with 24 goals and 40 assists.

The Stars had a three-game winning streak snapped with a 4-2 loss to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on Friday. Modano and Ulf Dahlen scored and Aaron Downey recorded his first career assist for Dallas, which had a seven-game unbeaten streak snapped and lost for just the second time in 21 games.

The Stars fell to 2-1-0 on their homestand and are 20-3-4-1 at American Airlines Center for the best home record in the league.

Dallas was 0-for-4 on the power play and has failed to score in its last 17 chances with the man advantage.

San Jose snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.

Vincent Damphousse and Owen Nolan each had a goal and two assists for the Sharks, who scored two power-play goals in the final six minutes.

San Jose improved to 1-4-0-0 on its road trip and 10-13-2-4 away from home this season.

The Sharks have struggled without contributions from two of their key players. Mike Ricci has not scored in his last 13 games and Teemu Selanne has just one goal in his last 19.

Dallas has won the first two meetings with San Jose this season, both at HP Pavilion.

With a huge lead in the Pacific Division, the Dallas Stars should hardly be concerned with a loss to their closest pursuers. The stars look to get back on the winning track when they take on the last-place San Jose Sharks at the American Airlines Center.

Dallas' eight-game unbeaten streak ended Friday night against the surging Anaheim Mighty Ducks, who dealt the Stars only their third regulation loss at home, 4-2.

The victory was the Ducks' seventh in eight games, but second-place Anaheim is barely threatening Dallas. The Ducks trail Dallas by 14 points with 25 games remaining.

``Anaheim's a desperate team right now,'' Stars coach Dave Tippett said. ``Our whole team has to be better than average. The urgency was there for Anaheim but not for us.''

Perhaps the only area of concern for Dallas is in goal, where veteran Ron Tugnutt is filling in for injured starter Marty Turco. Tugnutt made 15 saves Friday, and Tippett called his performance ``average.''

Turco will be out for at least three more games with a sprained ankle.

``I just had a little bit of bad luck,'' Tugnutt said. ``I'm not satisfied with it at all. I've got to take the good stuff from it and forget about the bad.''

The Stars have failed to convert on 17 straight power plays, going 0-for-4 against the Ducks, but the return of forwards Jere Lehtinen and Pierre Turgeon from hip injuries might help in that area. The two players were back in the lineup Friday, with Lehtinen recording an assist on Mike Modano's first-period goal.

San Jose ended a four-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night. Vincent Damphousse snapped a tie with a power-play goal with 5:06 left, and Scott Thornton scored on a man advantage 41 seconds later.

The Sharks went 3-for-6 on the power play.

''(Special teams) have been a little bit of our downfall this year,'' Damphousse said. ``We put it together tonight.''

San Jose's penalty killing has been particularly bad, ranking last in the NHL.

(Sports Network) - The Pacific Division-leading Dallas Stars will look to get back on the winning track when they host the San Jose Sharks at the American Airlines Center.

Dallas saw its seven-game unbeaten streak go by the boards on Friday after falling 4-2 at the hands of the red hot Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The Stars still have lost just twice in regulation in their last 21 games (14-2-4-1).

Mike Modano and Ulf Dahlen scored for the Stars in the losing effort against Anaheim. Paul Kariya added a pair of assists in the defeat.

Ron Tugnutt turned aside 15 shots in the setback for the Stars. Tugnutt was subbing for Marty Turco, who suffered a high ankle sprain in Tuesday's win over Carolina. Turco has been placed on the injured list.

The Stars were 0-for-4 on the power play and haven't scored in their last 17 man advantages. Dallas has gone four games without a power-play tally.

San Jose put an end to its four-game skid on Friday with a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. The Sharks have tallied just a 2-5 mark over their last seven games.

Vincent Damphousse scored late in the third period to lift the Sharks past the Blackhawks. Damphousse also had a pair of assists.

Owen Nolan finished with a goal and two assists, while Miikka Kiprusoff made 23 saves in the win. Adam Graves and Scott Thornton both scored in the win for the Sharks as well.

Dallas has won both meetings between these clubs this year, including a 3-1 decision on January 18 at San Jose. These squads have been even in the last five meetings in Dallas (2-2-1).

San Jose is just 2-7-1-1 in its last 11 road games and 10-13-2-4 overall away from home. The Stars have won three of their last four home games to improve to 20-3-4-1 as the host.
