inaugural comeback play cashes as fsu/bc sneaks under. can't wint them all unless you win the first one. flush with the hysteria of recent success, i'm going to venture towards the sirens on the rocks with a play on my alma mater:
nc state +4: wolfpack fans have been reaching for the kool aid since preseason with the transfer of russell wilson. the progress under o'brien seems to have suddenly evaporated. hard to blame wilson for wanting to test the pro baseball market in the spring, hard to blame o'brien for standing his ground and not making an exception to a team rule for a star - you miss spring practice you don't start game one.
that being said, it has been excrutiating to watch new qb glennon this year. good kid with a cannon arm, but absolutely cannot make a read, and couldn't outrun me in a footrace. without the double threat of wilson in the backfield, the wolfpack has regressed to mediocre at best.
up on the hill, withers has been moderately successful in reorganizing the heels in the wake of the davis/thorp fiasco. davis had been using staff to shill for agents for years, and thorp somehow managed to turn the crisis management strategy (or lack thereof) into the death of a thousand cuts.
which brings us to this year's matchup in raleigh. interestingly, heels hc withers has stepped up the smack talk level this week, trying to bring some life back to the rivalry on the blue side, as davis's *just another game, we're focused on championships" mentality of the last four years has resulted in no series wins (and no championships).
safe to say this game will pretty much make or break both teams' seasons. strange things always seem to happen in this matchup, even moreso than the basketball series. give the nod to the icy commander to regroup after the disaster in tallahassee and salvage his regime. some reverse line movement suggests somebody somewhere feels the same way.
maybe a couple more later.
