Did head coach Mike Stoops hire Texas Tech's offensive
coordinator so that his Arizona offense can go out and pass
the ball 50 times against BYU? Probably not. But that ex-Tech
offensive coordinator Sonny Dykes once worked with the BYU
offensive coordinator Robert Anae when Anae was Tech's
offensive line coach, so he can help put the Arizona defenders
in the right place and Arizona defenders are already pretty
good, and they were already in most of the right places last
year when they held BYU to its season-low points total (13).

Arizona is not about to go out and do over-the-top crazy things
first time out of the gate, imploding and allowing BYU to steal
a cheap game from them. They know that if they play their game
and add just a new wrinkle or two, that the net effect of BYU
starting a new QB (after a four-season starter was drafted into
the NFL) and losing three key skill-position seniors the offense
will eventually take its toll.

"Can QB Max Hall shake off
the rustiness (three years since his last snap) against an active
defense that is already up to speed (10 returning starters). Well,
you saw last night -- and won with it -- what happens when a layoff
quarterback from the Mountain West is pitted against a Pac 10 defense.
Besides Hall's layoff, WR Austin Collie is coming off a two-year
mission layoff and going against Arizona's projected All-American
corner Antoine Cason.
