The Devil Rays will travel to Fort Myers to play the Red Sox on Saturday. Waechter is scheduled to start for the Devil Rays, which is significant since he is competing for one of the two remaining spots in the rotation. Thus far in the spring he has pitched in one game and allowed one run in three innings. Right-hander Jeff Niemann and lefty Chris Seddon also are scheduled to pitch, which will give fans a look to the future as both are top prospects. Left-hander David Wells is scheduled to pitch for the Red Sox. Position players scheduled to make the trip are Cantu, Shane Halter, Upton, Eduardo Perez, Josh Phelps, Danny Bautista, Dee Brown, Carl Crawford, Joey Gathright, Jonny Gomes, Chris Singleton, Delmon Young, and Luis Ordaz.

Red Sox closer Keith Foulke will make his first outing of the spring on Saturday. There is nothing physically wrong with Foulke. He's just someone who doesn't need a lot of innings during Spring Training

Saturday will be debut day at City of Palms Park. Aside from Wells and Foulke making their first appearances of the spring, third baseman Bill Mueller will make his first start since undergoing knee surgery in early February

Feeling strong after his bullpen session on Thursday, Pettitte said he is ready to appear in a live game Saturday when the club travels to Winter Haven.

Pettitte isn't sure how long he'll throw during that game with the Indians, but he likely will not exceed two innings.

"It might be two innings; it might be one," he said. "I'll just see how I feel. It's not going to just be batting practice, guys in the cage with me jumping in there. It'll be a whole different set of circumstances.

"I'm just going to continue to do what I've been doing -- letting my arm dictate how I feel. I've got to stay sound mechanically and stay smooth. I'll continue to take it slow."

Pettitte will make his first spring start Saturday at Winter Haven against the Indians. He will be followed by Tim Redding, Brandon Duckworth and Mark McLemore. For the Tribe, Kevin Millwood will make the start.
