Here's how I see this one.
hitting ----Goes to NY. In the play-offs, against right handed pitching NY is hitting 30 points better than Ari.
Batter/pitcher----not enough info on Mussina to suit me but NY has hit Schilling.
ump---Steve Rippley has a large strike zone so I expect both pitchers to do well. Whoever makes the first mistake will proably lose this one. The odd thing is that both pitchers have had trouble with Rippley behind the plate.
Manager-----NY has Torre. I haven't seen anyone come close to using his pitching staff as effectively (especially his bp)as he has. In all sports, coaching wins championships. However this is only one game but I'll take any edge I can get.

The bottom line is this. Ari has to have 8 or 9 out of Schilling. NY can survive with a good 6 or 7 out of Mussina. If one of the pitchers does make a mistake, someone still has to hit the mistake. NY is scoring a full run more per game during the play-offs than Ari. In the last 7 play-off games they are scoring 2 full runs more. This is not counting the 50,000 base runners they have stranded so I'll go with the team that I think has the best chance of taking advantage of a mistake. I'll also go with the ump who should make this a pitching duel and keep the game low scoring. If both teams need their bp's for more than 2 innings, I like NY again. If it wasn't for the public thinking Ari can't lose with Schilling NY would be fav.

NY + 125

Good luck everyone
